Big Day

Here's Reed at his first doctor's appointment today. His pediatrician said he is doing great, and he is weighing in at 5lbs 11oz now. Since he was breach he will have to go for an ultrasound on his legs and hips in 6 weeks just to make sure they are developing right. He also had his first real bath tonight. I have a picture of that, but I won't post it. Basically it looks like everybody's first bath picture...he's red and screaming. Looks like Kyle will be coming home tomorrow. I am supposed to spend the day at the NICU tomorrow learning how to use the monitor that he will be on for awhile. His sleep test showed that he does have reflux. He holds his breath when he is refluxing (since it hurts), and that is what makes his heart rate slow down. They told me to be prepared to spend about 6 hours there tomorrow. This must be some fancy piece of equipment if I'm going to need 6 hours of training! Hunter wants me to tell everybody that he also had a big day because he had to go get groomed....he seems to think that's worse that Reed having to go to the doctor. JR's fever is back, so he missed school again today...not such a big day for JR, hopefully he'll get over his flu soon so he can get back to having big days too!

Jan, Our little great granddaughter also has reflux from birth. She is 4 months old, on meds that are increased as she gains weight (she weighs 17#). They hold her upright 45 min. after each feeding, she sleeps in a jumper chair (raised). She's improving all the time as they increase her meds as she gains and is expected to outgrow it as she moves around more. She has decided being held is the "way to go" so it's a big of a struggle to get her to sleep, but they're working on it. Your boys are so cute and we really appreciate keeping up with their day-to-day progress.

Good luck with your training! You're right...that must be some serious equipment! BUT, I'm glad to hear that Kyle is getting to come home. I hope the rain stays to a minimum while you are on the roads between home and hospital.

JR - feel better soon, buddy!

Jan, I hope by time you get this message you have survived the 6 hour training and that Kyle is home and your nest is complete! That's great that they are gaining weight and getting better each day. I will remember to say an extra prayer for Kyle's first night at home! Oh Aunt Billie called last night, she heard from Anne Parks that you had delivered the twins. She sends her congratulations too! And we are all anxious to meet them and see how JR (and Hunter) are adjusting. Jason looks a little tired in the pix!
