Bright Lights/Big City

Ayi will be going back to Beijing in about a week, (Can you hear me crying?) and she wants to do some shopping before she goes back. Since we only have a WalMart here in Durango, (No Target! Don't you feel sorry for me?) we're using shopping as an excuse to go to the big city... Albuquerque. We're heading out tomorrow and will be back on Sunday. I'll be sure and give you all the low down including how I like the food. I was told New Mexico serves "real" Mexican food, not Tex-Mex. It was said to me like Tex-Mex is a bad thing. Now, I'm really trying to accept everybody's "diversity" up here. But, come on! Tex-Mex not as good as Real-Mex? I don't know, I just don't think my "tolerance" can handle that!

That would be a tough one to sit back and take. Obviously, they've never had REAL TEX-MEX. They probably wouldn't get past the chips and hot sauce - YUM!!!!!
Have fun in the big city - GS

Have fun in ABQ! I was in Santa Fe a few years ago and the food was okay, but just not a cheesey as our delicious Tex-Mex. You will probably have to pick either red or green sauce.... ;) Shel

Watch out for the "red" and "green" hot sauce. They ARE hot! You might venture out and have in Christmas style--red and green.
Have fun shopping in ABQ--check out Olde Town square and we recommend a restaurant on Church Street (can't remember the name, but it says it is in the oldest building on the plaza). Enjoy your trip.

Eat some "REAL" red chili for me. It is different as far as flavor but I think it's just different...not better. Kim

Okay, I hate that they say that about Mexican food and New Mexican food. Tex-Mex and Mexican food are very different (although there are many similarities in Northern Mexico). New Mex-Mex and Mexican food are just as different. Also, many people don't take into consideration the regional differences in Mexican food. It's not all tortillas and sopapillas!
