Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to my daddy!

I had lunch with him today, but no picture, so here's one from when they came to see the boys play baseball last weekend.

Can you Imagine?

Can you imagine if your whole life was just people constantly petting and hugging you?
I caught these "double belly rubs" the other day.

I wonder if she gets sore from the nonstop love?

We Ate a Lot

So it seems the only thing I really did on vacation was eat since that's all I have pictures of me doing.
Well, the food was good, what can I say...

(This was lunch right after I'd been hit in the head with a surfboard twice.)

And here's the only picture of the two of us together...and not eating!

Easier than Surfing

Sure boogie boarding is easier than surfing, but I'm way better at the standing on the beach and taking videos/pictures, so you won't see me in any of these.

Lots of boogie boarding went on

Though JR spent more of his time posing for Instagram photos.

Surf Dudes

Since I skipped out on the fishing and the zip-lining, I thought I'd try surfing.
I'm not sure what made me think I'd actually enjoy surfing since I'm not a fan of salt water going up my nose or waves crashing over my head and pulling me under.

My surfing safari lasted about 10 minutes.
I participated in the beach side lesson, carried my board out to the waves, and then proceeded to get knocked over by waves and have the surf board hit me in the head. (twice)
Needless to say, I called it quits, and went back and sat on the beach.

Jason, of course, was the best surfer in the family.  Reed did a great job, as did Kyle.
(Kyle's surfboard hit him in the head too, so he called it quits after about an hour).
JR was able to stand up and ride a few times and never gave up.

I didn't have my phone with me (since I thought I was going to surf) but the surf school took some pictures and I bought these of Kyle and Reed because they really came out amazing!

More Fish

The boys might not have caught any fish on the fishing trip, but Kyle did a great job catching fish in the tidal pools by our house.

Disclaimer: No blow fish, sea slugs, or crabs (not pictured) were harmed in these outings...they were all put back where they came from.

Fishing and Spaing

The boys fishing trip was a big bust.  They didn't catch anything.

The Ingersolls seem to have terrible luck with salt water fishing.
(We didn't catch anything in Hawaii either.)

But from what I hear, lunch was super yummy

And Kyle has added fishing boat driver to his career choices.

"I'll be a ski lift operator in the winter, and a fishing boat driver in the summer."

Luckily our friends' boat was much more successful and we had a delicious grilled fish dinner.

And I know I sound like I was a dud on vacation when I say I wasn't on this outing either.

But I wasn't a dud at all.  I was at quite possibly the best spa I've ever been to in the world.

Here's another view of those 3 chairs we are sitting in.

This is what it looked like when I walked in to get my mud wrap.
Yes, I know it says "Jen", but I'll answer to anything that starts with a "J"

So, yeah, not sorry I missed the fishing at all.

Zipline

When we decided we were going to Costa Rica the first thing that came to my mind was ziplining.
Seems like that's the thing to do there.

Now, our group was so big that you'd probably never even notice that I'm not in this picture.
But I'm not.
I knew better than to even try it.

Just looking at this suspension bridge they walked across makes my knees weak.

Jason said if I had been able to do any of it, I would have given up when they had to climb a tree to get to one of the ziplines.  (2 of the other adults gave up at this point,)

Jason wound up zipling with all the kids.  No fear from any of them.

And speaking of Jason, proof he was there.
And brave.
And had fun.

We're Back

We went to Costa Rica for Spring Break and got back home yesterday.

The flight is only about 3 hours, but it took us an hour and half to get through customs. Leave it to Houston to have 4 customs agents working during Spring Break.

The kids had lots of fun, and definitely left their mark.

That Time

It's rodeo time!
(Except that it started a week later than usual this year because of the Super Bowl, so I'm not sure if we'll even go because of baseball schedules and spring break.)

But we did hit up the BBQ Cookoff for the 3rd year in a row.  We had wristbands for all the same booths and we always go with the same friends,  so now it feels like a tradition.

We had a great time (as always) and I got to wear a cowboy hat.

And with all the thousands and thousands of people out there, I even ran in to Cassie!

Fairly Fair

The elementary school had their family fair on Friday.
Last year I had to work the entire time.

This year I lucked out only having to work 45 minutes.

I was at the Swisheroo Booth (Fancy name for shooting basketballs.)

I saw my kids together once so I took this picture.

Then I found this one of Kyle on Facebook.

Have I mentioned how hard it is to find your kid when everyone is wearing the same shirt?!

UIL Champs

My parents and I went and watched JR's advanced boys choir compete in their UIL competition today.

We were impressed with their performance pieces, but we were blown away by how good they were in sight reading.

They got 1's (the best you can get) from every judge on both their 3 performance pieces and sight reading.

This is the first time his school has gotten this honor since they've been keeping electronic records.
To say we love this choir teacher is the understatement of the year.

They won't let you video the sight reading, but I did get the performances.

Maybe He Should've Been More Specific

Jason says I shouldn't put barrettes in Chloe's hair because it's ridiculous.

Good thing he didn't mention hair flowers.

Got Him Some Jobs

JR was the commentator for Reed's baseball game the other night.

They are playing for a different little league this year, and it has a real press box.  I sat in it with JR and tried to help him.  I couldn't figure out how to work the score board so I tried to run the music.

It's quite a job, and there's lots to keep up with.
I did enjoy the birds eye view though. (That's Reed in the purple playing 1st base.)

I was so busy trying to help him (and keep up with music) that I was only able to get this quick video, but it gives you an idea of how the night went.

He landed himself 2 other teams that want him to announce their games.  (He's announcing tonight.)  So JR might be spending more time at the ball field than anyone in the family!

Quite a Change

This child looked like this at lunchtime today.

His allergies are the worst they've ever been.
But after a 20 minute breathing treatment and a huge dose of steroids.  He was like a different kid.

No really, this is him about 5 hours later.
He played 1st base, did amazing, and they won. (1st win of the season.)

Kyle's team won too.
He's quite the little catcher, he threw 2 kids out who tried to steal bases tonight!
(I know that looks like Reed's team up to bat, but those are the LSU Tigers...same color as the Frogs.)
