17

JR turned 17 on Friday.
I'm not sure how that's even possible.

I had a custom leather guitar strap made for him for his birthday.  When he opened it he said, "Wow. This is awesome."

Our house got wrapped on his birthday, and we laughed that his friend's parents must have had a stock pile.  And I guess nobody is desperate because nobody came and took it out of our trees.

He usually goes to an Astros game for this birthday, but since those don't exist during the lock-down, we're trying to find a night that we can get most of his friends together.  Thank goodness Texas is open so we can actually celebrate!

I Would Never Win This

We were really proud of Reed for receiving the end of the year math award from his teacher. Normally we would get to go to the end of the year awards ceremony, but they sent it out to us by video.  His teacher is so amazing, and said some really sweet things about Reed.

You know I love to take credit for the kids' accomplishments, but this is one I can't take any credit for.  In my opinion the math award is definitely the hardest one to win!

Reed also got all A's for the entire year.

And Kyle got all A's and B's for the entire year!

A New Job

JR was planning on umpiring all this spring and summer.  He umpired for 1 pre season tournament before baseball was shut down.  And since homeschooling was a complete joke, JR went out and got a job.

He started last week at Bahama Bucks.
The cool uniform is just a bonus to getting to stay inside in the air-conditioning and make snow cones for a living.

It's Gonna be a Long Summer

Summer hasn't even started and these two have already run out of things to do and have resorted to this.

It's also going to be a long summer of finding things to put on this blog if I've already resorted to posting things like this.

Let Out of the House

Our house arrest may be over here in Texas, but that doesn't mean our school events could go on as planned.

JR's theatre brunch banquet became a zoom meeting, so I decided to host my own personal, completely unrelated brunch at the same time.

I only snapped two pictures in the 14 hours that we had guests.  You read that right, 14 hours.
Some of the kids (and parents) hadn't been out of the house for 2 months...and you could definitely tell!

Chloe was so worn out from entertaining guests that she slept all day Sunday and Monday!

Chloe Games

Even Chloe has been trying to find new ways to entertain herself.

One of her favorite games is camouflaging herself on the couch.

But she's also taken to playing "do I have short legs or long legs?"

Mother's Day

We had a very nice Mother's Day since we got to go out to eat and see people

I was very upset we weren't able to do our normal Racquet Club buffet (as was my dad), but I told Jason if it's back by Father's Day I'm going to take over Father's Day too!

I  got lots of nice presents (and funny cards) and Chloe got me the most appropriate present ever!

And Reed was excited that this old picture of me got him tagged in a story for his little league Instagram.

We Went Out to Eat

We were so excited to get to go out to eat that we took a picture!

Everyone's hair is out of control, I keep telling Jason I feel like I'm married to 1980's Kenny Rodgers.

Reed's Exciting Stuff

Reed has more exciting stuff going on than anybody.

He won Chloe a new toy from the claw machine

Saw some longhorns

Caught a turtle when he was fishing

Watched Paw-Paw kill a snake

Made brownies

Got bit by a fish

And beat Maw-Maw at dominoes.

Dogs Can People Can't

So here in Texas dogs can now be groomed, but people can't.

I'm not sure whose hair is longer, JR's or Chloe's.

Although JR is pretty happy with his "flow".

Chloe was able to get her hair done yesterday!

The double bows didn't last long.

This is why she smiles with her mouth closed. Bless her heart.

The rest of us look pitiful, but at least the dog looks good.

I Win at Zoom Backgrounds

I am so tired of zooming and can't wait to see people in real life.

And yes, I'm totally bragging here, but my zoom backgrounds are the best.

Even on a normal day, my background includes "wildlife"

Then I have this one that makes it look like I'm sitting on a couch with Zac Efron.

And then my favorite right now, me sitting in Breakfast Club detention.

Same One

Reed keeps catching the same fish.
Guess the fish is bored and looking for some excitement too.
