Pretty Awesome

 Both the boys have showed up on my Insta feed recently doing some pretty awesome stuff. 

3rd 1/2

 Reed ran the Houston 1/2 marathon for the 3 time.  It was on Sunday before the snow came in. 

Here he is with his cross country friends that were running.

We've finally figured out exactly where to go to see him run by.  

We found him at mile 4 (like the years before). 

 It's just amazing to watch how fast these guys are when they run by (yes, there are a few girls, but they are the elite runners).

Then we went straight toward the finish line.  We saw him (with one of his cross country friends) right after mile 12.

Here's how he did. He already has his goal set for next year.

And here he is with his medal.  We thought they were pretty cool this year since it's in the shape of Texas.

Snow Day!

 So after the best day ever yesterday, we had a snow day today.  

I'm totally fine with snow days as long as we don't lose our electricity (which we didn't) and the school calls them the day before so we can sleep in (which they did) so yay!

 The kids are off tomorrow too, so that means a 5-day weekend for them.  

Jason heard on the news that this is the most snow we've gotten in Houston in over 50 years.

And Kyle wound up feeding lots of extra animals this morning since everyone stayed off the roads (except us who are driving-in-the-snow pros).  Here he is walking Megan in the snow.

 It was such a great day! 

We went to watch the inauguration at the cutest party ever!

He's Come and Gone

 JR headed back to school on Wednesday.  He doesn't start until after MLK day, but he was ready to go back. 

We enjoyed having him home, but one little lady is definitely going to miss him the most.  

Just look at her little face. 

Can you believe he only has 3 more semesters? I'm not sure how that's even possible!

17 on the 7th

 We celebrated Kyle and Reed turning 17 on the 7th.

They wanted to go to the Rainbow Lodge for dinner

And Reed wanted a polar pizza

Reed's friend's surprised him with a new pet for his birthday.  They got him a fish (and all the other accoutrements) which they named Hot Dog (yes, the friends named him, not Reed.)

NYE

 We went snowmobiling on New Years Eve Day.  I was freezing when we got there and thought I had made a terrible mistake.  But I warmed up once we got on the snowmobiles and it turned out to be lots of fun (especially since I didn't have to drive).  These pictures could literally be anybody, but I promise they're us.

And in exciting news, Breckenridge did NYE fireworks again after years of not having them.  

The show was really impressive!

Keeping Tabs on the Mountain....From My Couch

 Scott informed us there was a live camera feed on the top of Peak 7. So before JR left to go skiing, he was informed that he was required to go stand in front of the camera and wave to us.  It was the highlight of our morning for those of us that didn't ski that day. 

Kyle skis by and then comes back. I say, "that's Reed".  But it's not, it's Kyle.

No Tuxes at the Barn

 The video I took of Megan and her next door neighbor were actually taken in December when Jason and I went to take care of her.  Here's some more video from that night.

Jason and I were taking care of her because Kyle was invited to a formal Christmas party.

He looked very handsome.

It's Cold

 I am so far behind on blogging that I don't have a good way to catch up.  So since it's cold here I'll just start with that.

You know we don't like it when it gets below 40 degrees! Megan has been wearing her coat to keep warm (look how pretty she looks)

The sheep were doubling up to keep warm.  And of course, it's only fitting that Megan Moroney would share a pen with Dolly Parton.

turned 17 today.

They don't have a lot in common, but they are both fearless in the best ways possible.

We are so proud to call them ours! 

Enjoying the Snow

 So I posted too early in the day yesterday and didn't post this picture of Jason with his shoveling handywork. 

It was so beautiful today and the skiing was absolute perfection! 

So Much Snow

 We loaded up and made it to Colorado.  

Someone was very excited to go and was so good on the trip.

The snow is so tall she looks like a mountain goat leaping over it. 

We've gotten a ton of snow since we've been here.
