We Almost Froze

It got down into the 20's here in Houston this weekend.
Which basically means everyone lost their minds.

I had to bring the plants in, which I think might be the first time in about 2 years.
Our bedroom looked like this

A water-pipe burst and sprayed a tree on the main road that we live off of.
Everyone acted like they'd never seen ice before.

People lined up to have their pictures made, and of course, stopped their cars in the middle of a crazy, busy 4 lane street with no regard to traffic or getting run over.
(I was on the sidewalk...I'm not about to risk life and limb for an ice tree!)

9 is Fine

These little people turn 9 today.

They started celebrating last night, and celebrations are scheduled to continue!

NYE

Some of us had a very exciting New Year's Eve, and others...not so much.

JR wins most exciting New Years ever, getting himself on the floor of the Rockets court pre-game to shoot free throws and winding up on both the televised game and SportsCenter.

I always thought he'd wind up on SportsCenter, I just thought it would be his speaking voice that got him there, not my poster making skills.

Kyle and Reed had spend the night guests and "champagne" toasts.  Kyle was up until 4:00!

Chloe looked more like Jason and me, calling it a night pretty early.

Christmas

We had Christmas morning the evening of December 28th.
We got home and saw that Santa had arrived and that the elf was gone (yay!)

We made it back at 4:00, and Kyle had basketball practice at 5:00, so we actually didn't have Christmas until he got back from that.

Favorite presents included:
2 ft tall stilts

A mini trampoline (so they would stop flipping off my couch) and a mat (so they would stop landing on my couch cushions.
They also got a slack rope...I'm pretty sure they want to run off and join the circus.

And they got a fish.
His name is Donald Trump Ingersoll

Kyle is already a master of the stilts (this was the first night he learned) and they've taken tons of videos of their flips, but they are all on Kyle's ipad so I'll have to post those later.

The slack rope is a lot trickier, Reed is the best at that with only 3 steps taken!

Ski Trip

We skied for 8 days in Breckenridge and had so much fun with all our friends.
Our house was steps from the gondola and right downtown on Main Street...it was perfect!

Everyone in the family skis better than me, but at least I made it 8 days without falling down...it's too hard to get up!

Not the Big Texan

You might have noticed that JR was missing from the Big Texan pictures, that's because he didn't drive up with us.

JR was asked to be in Little Women the Musical after we had already planned our trip.
(He didn't audition for it or anything.)
He said he would do it...as long as he didn't miss any skiing.

So Granny Sherry was actually the only one who went to see him in his show.
He didn't really tell me much about it, so I had no idea he was going to be wearing such a handsome costume.

He played Mr. John Brooke, Laurie's tutor.

Granny dropped JR off at Cassie's house after the show, and he flew up with them the next day.
They beat us to Breckenridge by about an hour.

JR had never flown Southwest before and was pretty excited that you can pick your own seat.

He wasn't lucky enough to fly home...he had to rough it in the car with the rest of us.

2016 Review

I still need to catch up on the end of 2016 blogging, but since today is 2017,  I must do my annual year in review spectacular.

January

We added a new Ingersoll to the family.  We were (and still are) totally smitten by our beautiful, little girl, Chloe.

February

Kyle and Reed played lots of basketball.  Reed's team came up short in the championship, and Kyle was honored with the sportsmanship award for his team.

March

JR landed his first paying acting gig with some voice over work.  He made 75 bucks for about 10 minutes of work.

April

In typical Houston fashion we had a flood and the kids missed 2 days of school.  At least they enjoyed themselves.

May

 Lots of baseball was played,

Slash and Axl sang at the SBMS pop show,

And JR was voted "best singer" in 3rd period choir.

June

Reed was named to the All-Star team, and everybody went to Camp Olympia.

July

Jason and I snuck off to "adult camp" to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary.

August

We made our annual Schlitterbahn trip, and added on an afternoon of wake boarding.

September

It was football season.  Reed was one of the quarterbacks; Kyle was the center.
Very few games were won.

October

I went on a fun girls' trip, the boys went hunting, and I made awesome Halloween costumes from our closet...again.

November

We got a new President (Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!)

December

JR and I were in the 1st Baptist Christmas show and so many people came to see us!

Cheers to a great 2016!
