Big Game/Bigger Loss

Jason and I went to the World Series last night.

I saw Altuve

And Kate Upton's husband.

I smiled and danced around and tried my hardest to get on TV (obviously).

But I didn't. 

It was a terrible game, and we left in the 7th inning when things really started to get bad.  I was using my stolen JR catch phrase quite a bit..."They aren't even trying to win!"  I also may have said "I've seen Reed's (little league) team play better" multiple times. 

But, terrible playing and game aside, here are 3 World Series take aways:

1. Honestly, it just kinda felt like going to a baseball game except there's waaaayyy more people (and they're all wearing $500 worth of Astros merch. Every woman is decked out in the Kate Upton rainbow sweater).

 2. Everything is waaayyy more expensive.  A can of beer is $15.75.  And a t-shirt is $50. 

3. I don't understand the people who pay for "standing room only" tickets.  How do they see anything?

But it was fun. I'm glad I went, and I'm glad I got to experience it. 

So Thankful

We were so thankful and appreciative to everybody who came out to see JR's show. He had so many friends and family members come out to support him.

His middle school "announcements" teacher.  Peyton and JR did the announcements every morning  when they were in 8th and 6th grade so she was excited to see them on stage together.

Caroline flew in from Florida to see him.  I told her we weren't allowed to sit together during the show because we wouldn't be able to handle it.  She came out at intermission crying (she was so proud) so we made the right decision not to sit with each other! 

Reed came for 1 show and Kyle came for 2 

Granny Sherry came for 2 shows too. 

And I was there (of course) with all my theater booster peeps each night.

JR's show wrapped on Saturday night and he told me he's sad that it's over.  I told him "Well, y'all start practicing for Singing in the Rain in 2 days, so I think you'll be ok."

One Away

We are one show away from JR being finished with the fall musical.  So far his voice has held out, so fingers crossed for tonight.

The kids have done such a good job of promoting their show, and the pictures of JR are just priceless.

These two have been singing together since they were in middle school!

 I guess we're all feeling this way about it being the last night.

Big Game

Kyle and Reed are in choir as one of their electives this year so they don't have to take band.  They got put in band (even though they didn't sign up for it) and I was able to get them out by putting them in choir.

They had their first concert last Thursday night, and I feel like I'm an old pro at these since I've been to so many of JR's.

Of course, they can't make it easy on me and put them in the same choir.

As soon as it was over we grabbed some friends, jumped in the car, and raced over to the Memorial/Stratford football game.  (I missed getting to see JR sing the National Anthem with his choir.)

It's absolutely the game of the year.

See how crowded it was even with it being the Astros game 5 against the Rays (which is where Jason was.)

 I sat with my friends behind the Markettes drill team (where else would I want to be?) I saw JR in the student section once, and Kyle and Reed ran around with their friends.  I saw Sean and Kyle once and snapped this picture. 

Memorial won (and the Astros won) so it was a winning kinda night! 

I was Invited

As of September Jason and I have been together 20 years.  And in that 20 years he's never invited me to go hunting with him.  (I did go to Australia with him, but that's only because he wanted JR there and needed a babysitter, so I wasn't actually invited as much as "brought along" to be the nanny.)

This past spring Jason bought a deer hunt at a charity auction, and invited me to go with him.  And since I've never been invited before, I figured I better go.

Here am I documenting the drive to the ranch.

Apparently when you get there you have to make sure your gun works (or something like that).  Jason shot once and hit the bullseye, so he was good to go. (And I was pretty impressed.)

I thought we'd get in the deer stand, Jason would shoot something, and then we could come home early.  

After sitting in the deer stand Friday evening and seeing all kinds of deer that he didn't shoot at, I realized I was in it for the long haul.  

Not surprisingly he didn't shoot anything Saturday morning either.  I felt like JR when Denver was loosing in the Super Bowl to Seattle and he kept crying, "they're not even trying to win". 

 And since JR and I are basically the same person it was at this point I started whining to Jason. "You aren't even trying to shoot!"

I sat around Saturday afternoon and watched UT lose, A&M lose, and the Astros lose. 

I also made fun of Jason for sitting around on the couch with his bullets strapped around his waist.

That evening I sat in the deer stand (where you have to be quiet) and watched Jason not shoot anything again. 

 I did text him "hunting is boring" since I wasn't allowed to talk, which I guess was the highlight of the day.

Jason went out Sunday morning for the last hunt, and oh, surprise, surprise he shot something.

Funny how he was able to find something to shoot on the very last hunt.  I'm not in the picture because I decided to sleep in. 

It was very sweet of Jason to ask me to go with him, and it was fun spending time with him... 

But I told him he doesn't have to invite me anymore. 

More Astros

I figure I better post this while the Astros are still in the playoffs. 

This bunch went to the game last night and had a great time. 

I'm not sure they could have on more Astro's paraphernalia.  

 Kyle got a ball during batting practice (Reed's showing it off here) from one of the Yankees.

They stayed until the end so they got to see Correa's walk-off homerun, and got home about 1:00 AM.  Good thing there was no school today!
