JR turned up in my insta feed 2 days in a row in 2 different posts.
Obviously one was real time and one was from an old photo shoot, but it was good to see him (twice)!

Since Reed raced on Friday this was one of the few weekends we'll have this fall with a free Saturday, so of course the boys wanted to go fishing. We went down to Matagorda, and they had a great time wade fishing. I had a great time sitting in the house and not fishing!
It's been a million degrees here, but in the evenings, it gets down in the hundreds, so it was nice to sit on the porch.
Reed raced again on Friday (2 miles) and we got a thumbs up before it started.
JR had his first day of school today and I asked him to send me a first day of school pic. I never got one, so I'll just post this one I got of him making the rounds at bid day.
The other thing we were able to squeeze in last week was celebrating MawMaw and PawPaw's 50th wedding anniversary. Their anniversary was at the end of July, but none of us were around to celebrate.
We had a very nice luncheon for about 20 people, which I didn't get any pictures of, but that just means we were having a good time.
I got a few pictures before the party started.
Reed had his first cross country meet of the year before the school year even started! He's running JV this year, and his division had the most runners with 127.
In the first few meets they only run 2 miles. There were so many kids jockeying for position that a kid behind Reed stepped on his shoe and pulled it off. So here's Reed getting ready to toss his shoe to Jason!
He ran over a mile with one shoe. This was his thumbs up to his coach that he was fine, and not hurting himself. Check out that sock foot.
His goal was to place (top 15) and he came in 14th and did it with one shoe.
2 miles in 11:48 in a million percent humidity!
It was the first day back to school.
Reed and I were up at 5:30 since he has to be at practice by 6:15. I took his first day of school picture when he got home, but Chloe was too excited to see him to let me get a good picture.
Well, I didn't even realize I hadn't blogged because JR has been home for a week, and as it always is, that was all consuming.
We got him all repacked up
And he left for Oxford this morning.
As you can see, somebody tried to stow away to be the frat dog.
But her mean mother said no.
It was good to have him home for a few days, but I know he's super excited to get back!
I opened up our free community magazine and there we were.
Kyle finished up his summer job, and they sent him off with a surprise.
Reed's still "hard" at work, but he finishes up at the end of next week.
JR will finish up next week too, and we'll get to see him for a few days.
