Double Winner

Reed and his doubles partner played in the Texas Cup this past weekend.  They won all their matches and played great together.

Plus they're both really cute.

The other kids on his team won all their matches too, so they walked away with new tennis racquets and the Texas Cup.

Eggsited to Cook

Since we are still suffering the lockdown of almost everything fun.  Kyle's cooking class at school remains one of the most exciting things around.

They have advanced past washing dishes, and last week was the first time they were able to cook.

Apparently Kyle is the best dicer in his group.

And though we don't have any documentation of his knife skills, here's Kyle's egg muffin documentation.

Go Bears

Reed had his first middle school football game.  I think they only get to play 3 games, but he is excited to play.

Like all sports, I'm not sure what his positions are called, and lots of times I lose him on the field.  But I do know that's he #7, and usually pulling up his pants because they don't make pants with a small enough waist.

But like every sport Reed plays, he makes it so much fun to watch!

I think this is him being a kick off returner.  (The other team kicks the ball, Reed catches it and runs.)

And here he is doing that another time

And I know this is when he is a running back (I know that because they hand him the ball and he runs).

And here he is on defense tackling a big kid.
(I, of course, have "reactions" to all the plays, but this one I think is my biggest.)

He's on the right hand side of the video #7.

Dreams do Come True

 Today is Granny Sherry's birthday.

We celebrated on Sunday by going to Benihana's.

And Kyle's kindergarten career dreams of becoming a Benihana's chef all came true.

Hoco 2020

Homecoming 2020 looked a lot different than normal, there was no dance, but at least they got to have a game.

(I'm getting real tired of having to say "at least" with every tiny little thing we're "allowed" to do!)

Since there was no dance, JR didn't take a date since he was "working" at the game.

And even though he didn't have a date, I did get to make a mum.  When Kyle's tutor and (JR's friend) told me she was sad because her boyfriend didn't want to do mums and garters, she had a mum waiting for her the next time she came over.

And here's JR working at the game, he's easy to find...just look for the skinniest one. (I wish I could say that about pictures of myself!)

And here he is working some more.  He's the S

So it would have been a super uneventful homecoming if one of JR's theatre friends hadn't won homecoming queen. Her mama is such a good friend that we were sitting together, and obviously we were super excited!

As you can imagine we didn't scream, whoop, or make a spectacle of ourselves in any way.

Wranglers

In a year when everything is horrible and awful, 2 really great things have happened for JR since going back school.

1. He got a parking spot. (Huge deal!)

2. He was chosen to be a Wrangler.

Besides getting to wear the super cool Wrangler uniform, he puts up and takes down the blow-up run through (here he is with that).

He runs on the field with a flag, protects the cheerleaders from getting hit by an out of bounds football player, and gets out of each class 5 minutes early to play music in the courtyard on game days.

They are also supposed to be in charge of rolling out the big mustang mascot, but apparently a rolling statue can carry Covid.

But in this year of "everything is cancelled" it's been fun for him to get to have this.

They're Up

Like clockwork on October 1st Kyle told me he was headed out to put up the blowups.  I didn't even get them off the shelves, he did the whole thing start to finish.

Reed was at football practice and was upset he missed "getting" to put them out.

And I'm not sure JR has even noticed we have blow-ups.

All My Dates

The boys had their 2nd cotillion lesson and I was one of the chaperones.  I had the cutest, little dates ever.  And it does crack me up that they are all pretty much the exact same height!

A&M Game

We were able to go to the A&M/Vanderbilt game last Saturday, and I was so happy to be out of the house that I didn't even mind rooting for the Aggies!

Before the game we went to the Dixie Chicken and we were able to find a table as soon as we walked in.  It was a game day miracle!

JR wanted a picture with Johnny Football.

(I have no idea why he thinks he's cool, and no, JR has no desire to be an Aggie.)

It was beautiful weather and we had great seats!
