Some Days He's Dick Van Dyke, Some He's Bob Uecker

The boys have still only won one baseball game (and that was preseason and didn't count) but thankfully we have JR there to make loosing better.

He brings his own sound system and commentates the game (complete with music in between innings).

It was drizzly and muddy last night, so I didn't video much.  And then I forgot to video JR's intro to the game (and just kept forgetting to video in general).

But here are a few to give you an idea of what he does.

This is Reed hitting, and then after all the screaming (see, I'm surprisingly not the loudest mom there) there's more JR.

Chloe Tuesday

Since Chloe didn't want to be in the pictures yesterday, I thought I'd share some she was happy to be in.

Hard at work at my desk

She's using the doggie door like a champ.  But I still don't know how she got this giant stick/mini branch through it!

Modeling her ponytail after a brushing.

More ponytail modeling...not brushed

Smiling for the camera

Relaxing with Reed

Loving being Kyle's baby

Happy Easter

Chloe had to be in all the family pictures this morning...

whether she wanted to be or not.

I Stand Corrected

Jason was quick to point out that I said our kids were "outfielders" in my last post, and that they are actually "infielders".
I thought everyone that was on the field and not batting or running bases was called an "outfielder", so that shows how much I know about sports.

And if you want to be more specific about their "infield" positions, Reed plays shortstop and Kyle plays 1st base. (I at least know that.)

Speaking of Kyle and baseball, he disappeared for an extended amount of time on Sunday at our neighborhood Easter party.
Had I remembered there was a face painter, I would have absolutely known where he'd snuck off to.

 He reappeared looking like this.

And if you're thinking, wow that's really quite low-key for Kyle.
The other side of his face looked like this:

That Time of Year

If the rodeo is over that means baseball games are starting.

We had our 1st real game tonight (which we lost) but we really don't care since Kyle and Reed played so well.

I even kept notes so I wouldn't forget what all they did in the outfield:
-Kyle got an out at 1st
-Reed caught a pop fly
-Reed got an out at 2nd from an outfield throw
-And play of the night: Reed caught a pop fly then threw it to Kyle at 1st for a double play

Then while batting:
 -they hit every time
-got on base every time
-Kyle got an inside the park home run.

We even had our first injury of the season when Granny Sherry hurt her foot celebrating the double play.

Big night for the Ingy Boys!

The Cowboy Rides Away

The Houston rodeo is officially over today. We only made it out there 5 times.
(I say only because we went 6 times last year.)

Here's my recap...and most importantly, all my hats.

Rodeo #1- The Band Perry

Kimberly Perry is gorgeous and has fantastic hair. She also had on really cute sequined pants.  One of the brothers (I don't know which one) had a man bun (which I'm normally not a fan of) but it looked great on him.

Rodeo #2- Miranda Lambert

Miranda is definitely depressed about her divorce from Blake Shelton.  She's put on weight, and didn't look or sound as good. She did the same exact show from last year.  We (along with lots of other people) got up and left half way through.

Rodeo #3- Shawn Mendez

I only knew 1 song he sang, so all the adults sat around and talked waiting for it to be over.  The kids loved it though,

Rodeo #4- Pitbull

Mr. 305, Mr. Worldwide was awesome as always.  I love Pitbull and love his shows.  This is the 3rd time I've seen him in concert and he never disappoints! Even Jason admits he likes Pitbull's show (which probably has a lot to do with his backup dancers).

Rodeo #5-Kid Rock

This was the most surprising show. Kid Rock is super talented.  He sang, rapped, played the guitar, played the drums, and DJed.  I kept describing him as the poor man's Justin Timberlake.  He even changed hats 3 times (cowboy, trucker, fedora) so you know I loved that.  I would see him again in a heartbeat.

We'll try and keep ourselves busy until next year, Houston Rodeo.

Friday. Boo!

And, sadly, now we're at Friday.

There's been lots more swimming going on this spring break.

And Grandpa and the boys went to a Rockets game.

The Rockets lost, but everyone got a free, pink (still not sure why they are pink) James Harden beard, so apparently that was awesome.

(Kyle is wearing a chef's hat because James Harden "stirs the pot"... so the fans dress like chefs.)

And JR has continued working through his break by taking care of our neighbors dog, Biscuit.
He's actually taken his dog watching responsibility really seriously, so maybe we have hope for him yet!

Mid Week Spring Break

Here we are already at Wednesday of spring break.
Time sure flies when we don't have to get up early!

Besides making JR work over spring break we've also:

Fed packs of boys

Taken way too many selfies

Gone to baseball practice with Daddy standing in as coach

Picked up the new baseball uniforms

Gone swimming

Seen friends from afar (yes, Dallas and Fort Worth are very afar).

Gotten haircuts

Eaten treats

And had lunch and movies with Grandpa.

Whew!

JR's First Job

About a month ago JR auditioned for some voice over work.

It was the easiest audition he's ever done.
We sat in our house, he read from the downloaded script, recorded his voice, and I emailed it in.
No headshot, no resume, no dance routine, no singing with an accompanist.
(All things we're used to.)

Last week they emailed me to make sure we lived in Houston (I gave them my phone number and with the Denver area code I guess they were double checking) and then they called to let me know JR had been chosen to voice one of the parts.

It's for an animated series schools can use to teach about money management.

JR recorded his first voice over today.  They told him he had to say the lines exactly how they were written, he couldn't replace "a" for "the" or drop any words. He was only at work for about 10 minutes, and the best part...he gets paid each time he works.

I don't know what his schedule will be, she told me whenever the client sends in a script with his part she'll call me and set something up.  It sounded like he could easily be working all summer.

I'd say this is the easiest summer job JR will ever land!

He Won One Anyway

Kyle was super excited to win a stuffed animal at the rodeo last year.
He still sleeps with it every night.

So he was quite disappointed when he came home stuffed animal free last week.
(I was not, by the way.)

When he got off the bus Friday, he was packing this giant minion with him.
Turns out, his teacher won it at the rodeo (if I had to guess, I'm sure her boyfriend won it).

She had a raffle in class and picked Kyle's name.

He was very happy with this turn of events.

Hopefully the First and Not the Only

About a month or so ago I got a call from our relator asking if JR would be in a commercial she was shooting for Zillow.  JR, of course, was happy to do it.  And you can see it here!

More Fairing

So the fair at the Houston Rodeo had a few different things to offer than the school fair.

Besides the scary, unsafe rides I'm always terrified the kids are going to get slung out of, there was also:

Giant turkey legs to be eaten

Fried cookie dough, Oreos, Twix, and pictured here, Nutella

the Sam Houston bearkat for Miss Cassidy and Paw-Paw

And, of course, root bear floats (although that was actually at the rodeo and not the fair).

The boys liked the rodeo except during the calf roping and steer wrestling when Kyle would scream out "They're killing him! The cow's dead!"  (They weren't killing the cows, nor were they dead.)

Reed decided he'd like to participate in the calf scramble (kids try to catch a calf) when he's in high school as long as he doesn't have to actually keep or raise the calf.

The entertainer was Shawn Mendes...much to the squealing delight of thousands of young girls (and Kyle).

The Many Faces of Kyle

We had the school Family Fair on Friday (and then the fair and rodeo on Sunday) so I am pretty faired out.

I somehow got wrangled into working the "general store" the entire time (from 3-6) which was just selling candy and stuff, so I didn't actually see Kyle and Reed unless they swung by to see me.  (Though I did hear over the loud speaker Reed get put in jail 4 times.)

I took a picture of them as soon as the fair started because I figured I wouldn't be getting anymore.

The next time I saw Kyle he had his face painted like a cat, of course.

When he swung around again he had been to the "fake injuries" booth (yes, that's a thing) and looked like this.

I guess his head wound got hot, because by the end of the fair, he only had a neck injury.

And by dinnertime I was out on the town with him like this.

Chloe Fabulous Friday

She just keeps getting cuter (and bigger)!

We had to wash snowcone out of her hair after this.

You Don't Look a Day Over 179.

Happy 180 years of independence from Mexico, Texas.

We didn't actually celebrate today, but I guess you could say we celebrated a day early since we went to the rodeo last night.

The rodeo was quite the event too, since the Mustang/CAT chuckwagon racer flew out of his wagon and the horses ran into the wall. It was super scary, and was even on the news. You can see it here.

I guess you can say we also celebrated at the BBQ cook-off on Friday night.
We went to two of the same tents from last year, and one new one.  They all had a live band so there was dancing and fun for all.

The stage lights from one of the bands turned us a funny color so I had to make us black and white.

Wandering around looking for more BBQ !
