Thanksgiving Week

We had a nice relaxing Thanksgiving week.

We went to see Pat Green and sang along with every song. (that's the back of JR).

We celebrated Jason's birthday (on Thanksgiving day this year).

And we went to the Texans game.

Outdoorsy Things

Lots of outdoorsy things happened this weekend.  All of which I tried my best to avoid.

I think Kyle saw a few doe at the deer stand, but other than that I think raccoons were the excitement.

Jason tried to make me feel sorry for him for all the time he spent in the deer stand.  I was under the impression he loved hunting and enjoyed sitting in the deer stand, so I'm still confused about why I was supposed to feel sorry for him.

He also got caught putting in lots of "hard work".

Reed had better luck in the deer stand.

And everybody had lots of luck catching fish.

Friendsgiving

Kyle went to a little friendsgiving celebration with his diving friends last weekend.  These kids dive (at least) 5 days a week together, but they still want to hang out with each other.

It's funny to see them all dressed up and not wet.  This is about as dressed up as I usually see them...when they're at the gym doing dry land.

And speaking of diving, Kyle's been working on a double in pike.  He says he's made up for all the spankings he deserved from slapping in to the pool.

Not to be Outdone

Not to be outdone by everybody else in the family, Reed also had a big week last week.  He found out he made the basketball team which was super exciting.

And his pole vaulting is going great, he'll definitely be ready for track season.

5 Better Pirates Than JR

Jason and I went to see JR's show Saturday night, but the show I really should have seen was Friday night.

JR starts the show in this tent.  He pops out and tells the audience about how to behave during the show, is chased out by security, and then doesn't return until intermission and the 2nd act.

During intermission he shows up and starts passing out programs to his own show.  He also takes pictures with the audience and basically gets everybody to get back in their seats.

The programs (totally his idea) were hysterical.

Coming in to the show during intermission and pictures during intermission

Friday night (which Jason and I missed, but thankfully MawMaw, PawPaw, and Granny Sherry saw) Spongebob dislocated her knee cap at the end of the 1st act.

They needed to stall the show so her mom could run home and get a knee brace, so they sent in JR.

JR entertained the audience for about 10 minutes.  Everybody thought it was part of the show and had no idea he was coming up with it on the spur of the moment.

Part of the bit he did was "the 5 pirates better than me".  Paraphrasing from what I've heard, he said,

1. Blackbeard the Pirate- the most famous
2. Johnny Depp- the best looking
3. Tom Brady- though it pained him to say it, he talked about him being a Buccaneer
4. Kenny Chesney- the country music pirate flag founder of no shoes nation
5. Keith Richards- who really isn't a pirate, but looks like one.

Doing his bit.
Looks like he's on #3 Tom Brady, which would explain the face he's making.

When the show starts up again, he has a solo about pirate prejudice

And then is chased away by security again

In the very last scene he literally bursts through the set to take selfies with the cast and sing the last song.

It was the perfect part for him, and I can't imagine anybody else doing it!

Senior Day

With a Saturday afternoon football game as our last home game of the season we didn't get to bask in the glow of the Friday night lights, but we did get to parade on to the football field and have our names called (which JR and I love).

They announced JR has head Wrangler and said he "wasn't sure which SEC school he would be attending".

We don't have the "professional pictures" but these weren't half bad.

MawMaw and PawPaw were there to see us all parade on the field.

Though I'm guessing he would rather take pictures like this

My Genes and Not My Genes

We got up bright and early Saturday morning to be at the pool for Kyle's dive meet.  He finished 4th on 3 meter and 2nd on 1 meter.  I don't have any pictures of his medals or video on 1 meter because Jason and I had to rush off to get announced as senior parents at the football game.

Speaking of announcing, I heard through the grapevine that Kyle did a great job announcing the divers and dives (it was a home meet, so the kids had to work.)

I definitely didn't give him the diving genes, but I'll claim the announcing ones!

School Spirit

I started out Friday going to JR's last pep rally.  I actually went to see one of my friends dance in the senior moms football routine, but bonus, I got to see JR do his thing. I'd never been to a pep rally before and realized I'd never even been inside the gym.

JR guarding the mascot.

Then Jason and I skipped JR's Friday night performance to head to the school auction. Yet another thing I'd never been to in 4 years.  We had fun, and obviously, looked cute.

All the Things in One Weekend

I feel like everything we had on our calendar all happened this past weekend.  It all started Wednesday afternoon when I had to help decorate the lobby for JR's fall show.

And look whose picture got overlooked.  Thankfully I'm handy with a pen.
(He had a real picture by opening night.)

But I did like the advertisement that went out last week.

Halloween

Halloween weekend started off with a trick when we woke up Saturday morning to this.

All our Halloween costumes were pretty simple this year.

JR was Randall "Pink" Floyd from Dazed and Confused (which meant he added a shell necklace to a normal outfit he would wear).

Kyle and Reed (and friends) wore jerseys.

Jason and I didn't dress up, but Chloe was a beautiful Halloween princess, who was much more excited about her outfit than she looks in this picture.

And we ran out of candy at 7:30.
