Who in the World is Doing the Cooking Tonight?

I know there's already the Naked Chef, but looks like we've got the market cornered on the Shirtless Chef!

Ummm, These Might Actually Be Cuter

We Reynolds don't like to be outdone.
And in keeping with that tradition, check out what my daddy was showing off when we arrived. I believe he played the cuteness trump card with these.

And if these few-days-old baby guinea chicks aren't cute enough for you, how about some few- hours-old still in the incubator.

Even the roosters are pretty cute when they're being chased by Farmer Kyle.

What's Cuter than Kids and Ducklings?

Not much.
Except maybe Kyle eating the tortillas as fast as the ducklings did.
And yeah, we're in Texas, the ducklings are close enough to the border that they appreciate a good tortilla as much as we do.

Grandparent Pics

Here they are.
Aren't they cute?
And if you're wondering who belongs to who...my dad is the one that looks just like me, and Jason's dad is the one that looks just like him.
It gets even easier with the grandmothers since my mom is the "German Jew", and Granny Sherry is the Reason-My-Children-Have-Blue-Eyes-Norwegian.

Take That, Cinnabon!

I have computer access for the next few days, so I have more for you today than what I can post from my phone. So we've gotta go back and discuss the awesomeness that was the giant cinnamon rolls from LuLu's Bakery and Cafe. We had seen LuLu's on Man Vs Food's San Antonio episode (the one where he does the Four Horseman hamburger challenge with the ghost chillies. He thinks he's going to quit after the first bite, but actually completes it). We didn't tell JR we were going to stop off until right before we got there, and he was beyond excited. (I mean really, is this an excited face, or what?)

Now a couple of warnings about LuLu's:

1. It's not in the best part of town. It's right downtown, not far from the Riverwalk, but those couple of blocks make a huge difference. We didn't get to stop and eat there because we had Hunter with us and couldn't leave him in the hot car. While the kids and I were inside buying the cinnamon roll ($7.50), Jason watched a crack deal go down in the apartment parking lot next door.

2. I would assume it's always crowded. We got there at 4:00 PM on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. They have a sign saying they were voted 'best chicken fried steak in San Antonio' and I believe it by the number of people.

3. These giant cinnamon rolls are seriously good. Jason's picky about sweets (Yes, he's one of those kind) and he even said it was delicious. We were eating a prepackaged, to-go one in the car, so I can't even imagine how good a hot, fresh, out-of -the-oven one would be. WOW. And guess what? They ship!

And just in case you're wondering. It took us 3 days to eat it. And we ate every bit of it!

Where in the World are The Ingys? #4

Gruene (pronounced 'green'), Texas, Baby! Home of the oldest dance hall in Texas. That's me with Anita and Deyon some of my besties from our Beijing days. Woohoo!

Where in the World are The Ingys? # 3

Modeling beaver nuggets at the Bucees near Luling, TX. And what's a beaver nugget, you non Texans might ask. Well, certainly nothing any self respecting-organic loving-Coloradan would put near their lips (basically, fried puffy balls of sugar).

I Am Soooo Colorado

I did such a Colorado thing today.

Nope, it wasn't a visit to the farmer's market, bike riding, or tree hugging.

It was hiking.

Now Texans, don't think you've lost me to The Mountain People, cause guess what hiking is? It's what we call 'goin' for a walk'. Except you can do it in the middle of the day without suffering from a heat stroke!

Okay, so truth be told, I'm not Colorado enough to just go out and hike for fun. I actually took the the Cub Scouts. And being the good Texan JR is, he wasn't exactly excited when I told him we were going hiking. But as you can see, he caught on quick.

Beginning of the hike

Middle of the hike (That water is melted snow, and it is fra-eee-zing!)

And a perfect JR end.

Well Hello, Old Friend

I used to spend hours upon hours with this Old Friend.
Then he just sorta...disappeared.
Sure, I saw glimpses of him every once in awhile, but not like I used to.
He used to go everywhere with us.
And even got to go on some fabulous vacations that I didn't!
Here he is in South Africa. Kyle, Reed, and I weren't on that trip. *Humph*!

(And though it's not the greatest picture of Buzz, being that he's in a headlock and all, you'll also notice JR is wearing Buzz Lightyear pajamas and holding the Toy Story 2 book.)

Yeah, JR would dress as Buzz almost daily. And it was such an event when JR met him, this was our Christmas card that year.

But like I said, I haven't seen much of Buzz for the past two years or so.

Until tonight.

Welcome Back, Buzz Yight-Ear! It's good to see you again!

I Can Now Add Guest Blogger to my Resume'

Lots of you know my former student/boy-BFF JD. If you don't know him, then you've probably read about him in my blog (he's the opera singer). JD is off to Europe in a few weeks to sing the title role in Elijah. (And even if he's not the title role, I'm saying that he is. But unlike my mom who just makes whatever I'm doing sound fabulous even if it isn't, I'm actually about 99% sure he is the title role.) Although JD hasn't left for Europe yet, (he's at "camp" in intensive rehearsals) he isn't allowed computer or phone access! *The Horror!* (Although I'm pretty sure he's snuck his phone in there since I've heard from him by Facebook and text.) JD lined up a few guest bloggers to take over his blog while he's away this summer, and I got to be the first one! In fact, I made my guest blogging debut today. (You can read it here.) If you like trying out new blogs JD's writing has always entertained me, and his successful foray into blogging doesn't disappoint!

Here's What We Woke Up To

I have to say it's quite odd to wake up to the sound of the snowplow in the middle of June!

I. Ran. A. Half. Marathon.

I'm finished! And way more tired than I thought I'd be! This is a self portrait I took between miles 7 and 8 in the rain and 44 degrees. Woohoo!

Starting Line

Five minutes till I start trying to run a half marathon! The good news, it's not snowing yet. Bad news, I'm feezing so I couldn't wear my new cute outfit!

Only One to Pose

But we all made it. We're here in Breckenridge and expecting snow the next two days. You can imagine how excited I am!

Thanks from the Tourists

We're off on a little road trip, and its nice to see Pagosa Springs is keeping up the tradition of serving ice cream to the tourists. Goodness knows the fit Coloradans aren't the ones eating it! (And as native Texans we feel more at home in the tourist category than the 'fit' Coloradan.)

More From the Kitchen

Great.
It's official.
I now have no way of containing them in the house.

Some Southern Chefing

I hadn't "cooked" with the kids in awhile, and when I saw this recipe for S'mores Stuffed Brownies I couldn't think of anything that would taste better. I guess the kids were ready to put their culinary skills back to work because when I hollered out, "Who wants to cook?!" I heard 3 voices squeal "Meeeeee!" and stools were in cooking positions before I could even get the ingredients out. Speaking of ingredients, these 2 were guarding them with their life...or maybe somebody was just trying to eat the marshmallows through the package.

The Boss supervised JR's every move very closely. Kyle played with his spoon.

Still scrutinizing the situation. And playing with a spoon.

Kyle perked up when it was time to stir.

Humm, for some reason quite a few of our graham crackers had bite marks in them.

Don't let Kyle's lack of marshmallows in front of him fool you into thinking he was working the hardest at layering them in the pan. He was shoving fist fulls in his mouth as fast as he could.

Our finished product.
And just like Truvy's Cuppa, Cuppa, Cuppa I knew it was going to be a little rich, so I "served it over ice cream to cut the sweetness"! (I seriously did.)
JR said it was the best thing he'd ever put in his mouth!
