Astros

I totally forgot the boys (including Jason) have all been to see the Astros already this year.
I think they all went in like the first 3 games.

I have not been, but the rest of the house has enjoyed the fancy pants seats!

Did You Notice?

Did you happen to notice JR in the background of the picture I posted yesterday?
Here it is again.

Yep, some days he's the commentator, some days he's the snow-cone maker, sometimes he's both.

After each game the home team has to supply a volunteer to make and give out snowcones to both teams.

JR likes doing it and is always up for the job.
The parents hate it, which makes JR literally everybody's favorite person.

Talent Time

The PTA moved the talent show to the end of the year, which was fine by me.
They put me in charge again this year, but I had some demands this time around:

- I wanted a day-time, during school show only (nobody wants to come back to school in the evening at the end of school)

-All try outs had to be emailed or texted to me (I wasn't staying after school to watch kids dance and sing)

-And all dress rehearsals had to be during school hours.

I got everything I wanted, and I guess the kids really liked the show last year because this was just one of the stacks of audition forms that came in,

Yesterday, 3 little girls from Kyle and Reed's grade came over for me to help them with a routine. And when I say "help" I mean I picked the song, made up the routine, and taught it to them.

It was funny having 3 little girls in the house (they all ooohed and ahhed over Kyle and Reed's baby pictures and fell into hysterical giggles when JR came home.)

After they left Reed said, "I'm so glad we don't have any girls in our family!"

One of the girls is Reed's little girlfriend, who I just happened to get a picture of with Kyle and Reed at the ball field the other night,

Their routine is super cute (if I do say so myself) and will be great if they practice like they should!

Bad Bunny

Chloe has been giving me the stink eye ever since Easter.  Just look at that mad face.

She helped herself to a chocolate bunny that was hiding in my closet last Easter, so she's been waiting for her chocolate bunny this year.

And since she still hadn't gotten a chocolate bunny this year, she figured she'd jump on top of the kitchen table and eat an entire bunny (still in its packaging) while we were out of the house on Sunday.

Chloe said she knew it was hers, it was a Godiva bunny, and she prefers the best.

Clearly, she's fine.

Double the Fun

So we didn't lose our minds at Kyle's baseball game last night.

But someone in the family might have stood on the bleachers and screamed out "that's MY baby" when he got a double play.

(Caught a pop fly then threw the kid out who had run off 1st.)

Kyle even said, "their coach thought the ball was too far behind me to catch, I heard him tell the kid to run,"

Kyle had 5 outs for the night, and we were very proud of our little 2nd baseman.

Crazy Pants

So Reed's baseball team has only won 3 games the whole season.
They play hard, but just can't get the wins.

On Sunday they were scheduled to play the only undefeated team in the league, and
we were all prepared for an embarrassing beat down.

And, you guessed it, Reed's team won.
We're calling it the Sunday miracle.

To say that we lost our minds when they won is an understatement.
(I'm the second mom to storm the field)

Yes, we acted like they had won the championship  (complete with family pictures with the scoreboard) but this was a big deal for the kids, and probably the last win the team will get.

We celebrated with the team all afternoon.

Smarty Pants

I know he gets his sassy pants from me, and his fancy pants are definitely from Jason, but I'm not sure where in the world he gets his smarty pants from.
(All the grandparents will be happy to claim passing down that gene.)

JR got a letter yesterday that he was accepted in to the National Junior Honor Society at his school.

He had to have a 93 overall GPA for the year just to apply, and then he had to list all his extra- curriculars. (Which, being my child, we know he has plenty of those.)

I put JR in charge of his own grades this year.  He was responsible for looking at his grades online and making sure they were where they needed to be.  It was so freeing for me not to be checking on him (I never looked at his grades until he brought me his report cards each 9 weeks).  I wanted him to want this, and earn it on his own.

We are all very proud and looking forward to his induction in a few weeks.

Cause it's not Hard Enough

Kyle decided just being able to hula hoop isn't hard enough.

I can promise you I would have fallen and hurt myself trying to do anything like this.

Easter Program

After her fantastic performance in the Christmas pageant, MawMaw was supposed to have the speaking parts in PawPaw's gospel singing Easter program at church.

When she was complained about having to do it, I suggested JR do it, and of course, everyone thought that was the best idea ever.

There was much more singing in between the speaking, but I just videoed JR's parts.

Easter Pictures

Family Easter Pictures

Growing up my mom was always holding our dog and had on sunglasses in every picture we ever took.
I looked at this picture and realized I've officially become her.

Great Shots

The neighborhood dad that is the go-to sports photographer came out to one of the games on Saturday and got some great shots of Reed.

He also got some "great" shots of someone else in the family.

Pretty sure that's the last time they'll ask me to be the "bat mom".

Tiger Mom/Tiger Son

Today was the first time I've been to one of JR's honors assemblies this year.

He's made a B each 9 weeks, and being the tiger mom I am, I told him, "Why would I come up there and watch you get an award for making a B?"
I know, but as I always say, my 3 years in China gave me the right to be a Tiger Mom.

JR made all A's this 9 weeks so I went up to see him receive his principal's honor roll award.

But then I got the added bonus of seeing him receive a "teacher award".  His choir teacher picked him as his "best student of the 9 weeks".   I think JR and I were both surprised and excited.

Bat Mitzvah

JR is the first person in our entire family to ever be invited to a Bat Mitzvah.  And if any of us ever get invited to another one our expectations are pretty high!

We figured it was going to be a pretty fancy pants party just by the invitation

So JR wore his best fancy pants.

I made him do the "model pose",

He said it was so nice and he had so much fun.
He ate the best sliders he's ever had in his life, partook in multiple fountains of chocolate and caramel, and drank as many Sprites as he could from the open bar.

I know he danced with girls, but I can't find any photo evidence of that. All I can snoop out is this photo I found on Instagram.
