20th Anniversary Trip the Rest of the Days

So I did a really bad job of documenting the rest of the trip with pictures, but we were having too much fun.

We spent the rest of our days at the Grand Hotel in Alabama. "The Queen of Southern Resorts" has been a hotel since 1847, except during the civil war when it was a Confederate hospital, and World War II when it was used for soldier training.

We spent lots of time on our balcony.

Had the best massages either of us have ever had at their gorgeous spa.

Spent a day in our pool cabana.

And ate super yummy dinners!

Neither of us wanted to come back, but if I'm ever going to fit in my clothes again, I'm going to need to stop vacationing!

20th Anniversary Trip Day 1

We headed out Wednesday (on our official anniversary) towards New Orleans.  We stopped for the night to stay at the Hotel Monteleone.  We quickly realized that our theme for the trip was definitely "old southern" as it's been around since 1886.

We stopped in their famous carousel bar (the carousel has been "spinning" for 70 years) but I was fine not to "ride".

We also celebrated with a bottle of champagne we've been saving for over 2 years, of course, it's us, so we drank it out of paper coffee cups.

We went to dinner at Galatoire's, which is the newest place we visited on this trip as it opened in 1905.

We took off our readers for this picture, which I think was one of the main dead giveaways that we were celebrating 20 years.

Anniversary Day

Today's the day.  We've been married 20 years.

I thought we looked pretty good until I saw these side by sides and now I'm depressed.

Bless our hearts.

20 years seems to have flown by. And I might have not loved every single minute, but I've come pretty close!

Father's Day

We had a very nice father's day yesterday.

The golden child got his very own picture with his dad since Kyle and Reed weren't home.

They had been busy catching fish over the weekend.

We met my parents in Huntsville for lunch to celebrate.
For people who are all different sizes we sure look like we're all about the same height!

And Jason got a picture with all his kids.

Teeth Day

JR had his wisdom teeth removed this week.

I won't post the picture of what he looked like when they rolled him out in the wheel chair because he'll never live it down.  And I don't have any funny videos of him saying crazy things, because he was literally passed out.

As JR puts it, "they put a tourniquet on my arm and came at me with a needle like I was Nikki Sixx, then the next thing I knew I woke up in your bed."  (At 2:15, he'd gone under at 8:30)

Nurse Chloe did an amazing job with the patient.

Others were not as good

As you can imagine the drama has been high.
There's been pain, ice packs, hot packs, childproof medicine bottles that couldn't get opened fast enough....and of course, the complaining about what he can't eat.

I mean, I just can't imagine why I would suggest it isn't the best idea to eat a Sweet and Spicy Bacon burger from Whataburger, and maybe a regular hamburger would be a better idea 1 day after surgery

Flag Day

 Flag Day has been celebrated.

In fact, Flag Day was celebrated for 4 days, so I'm all Flag Day celebrated out.

We started Friday night by going to see our favorite 80's cover band, The Velcro Pygmies.

Our table. Cause we're VIPs.

Then Saturday we went to MAD for dinner with my theatre peeps.  It's an over the top restaurant for an over the top bunch!

On Sunday some girlfriends took me to Brennan's for brunch.

This picture just cracks me up because this is a very true representation of what we actually look like.

And then yesterday Jason and I went to dinner where I wore my new Flag Day present from Jason.

And now I have about a week to rest before we start celebrating our 20th anniversary!

Birth Day

As soon as the wedding was over we officially started celebrating JR's 18th birthday.

We decided that Tao was the perfect restaurant to celebrate his big day.  He celebrated his first birthday in China, so it only made sense to take him to one of the best Chinese food restaurants in the country for his 18th!

The Ingersoll Men

I like to call this picture "2 people who both think they're 25".

The parents of an actual adult

And, of course, Kyle had to sneak in

This is my 3rd time to eat at Tao and I'm always blown away by the décor.

We let the waitress pick out our menu and it was unbelievable.  The sushi literally melted in my mouth.  We all agreed it was one of the best meals we've ever eaten!  Kyle and Reed are now big fans of Peking duck, but I'm going to have to go with the lobster noodles being my favorite of the night.

It was a super fun and special night celebrating our very own self proclaimed golden child!

Wedding Day

Jason and I had big plans to celebrate our 20th anniversary in June on a cruise with the family.  But thanks to one of the best shows on TV, 90 Day Fiancé, we were inspired with a new plan.

As we watched one of our favorite 90 Day couples get married by Elvis in Vegas, Jason said we should do the same and renew our vows.

Of course I thought it was the greatest idea ever, and since I wanted our kids to be there...and JR was turning 18 over Memorial Day weekend...our vow renewal plan was complete.

We took lots of pictures before we went to the chapel.

The boys looked so grown up and handsome.

And then we headed over to the Little Vegas Chapel.

We got to pick 3 songs that our Elvis sang. We picked Viva Las Vegas, Suspicious Minds, and You Were Always on my Mind.

I can't post the family photo with Elvis because that's going to be our Christmas card (obviously!)

Kyle walked me down the aisle. Reed was supposed to be the best man and JR the man of honor, but they wouldn't let them stand up there because of stupid Covid.

We wrote our own vows and mine were silly and funny (we were having an Elvis wedding!) Jason's were the nicest, sweetest vows ever.  I started crying immediately, but did my best not to cry my fake eyelashes off!

We started dancing and singing along when Elvis sang his last song.

And then we were married (again)!

We had the absolute best time and it was a perfect way to celebrate 20 years!
