Easter Sunday

We don't have any family pictures from Easter Sunday since we weren't dressed up since we went to sunrise service at my parent's church.

After sunrise service they have breakfast back at the church, and Jason was volunteered to be on eggs and bacon duty.  They even gave him an official apron to wear.

After breakfast I did get a picture of Chloe stalking the driveway waiting for us to come back.

And the boys got their Easter baskets when we got back home.  Reed shamed me for not "personalizing" them, but I've learned it's best to get everyone the same!

We dropped JR off at the airport around 2:00, and he was back in Oxford by 7:30.

He's Home

In honor of the Golden Child coming home for the weekend yesterday, here is the only evidence I received that his band played at both his fraternity house, and one of the bars in town last Saturday.

Season Ending

We finished up Reed's track season this week.

He tried what seems like a million different poles this season, and I'm not sure he ever found one he loved.

Jason and I were laughing about how big this one was.

He was able to vault 10 feet this year.

He ran the mile at the district track meet and came in 5th with a time of 4:51. So while it's great he placed in top 6, it wasn't the time he wanted.

Last year in this same race he ran a 5:32, so his improvement is definitely something to be proud of.

I don't know if he'll continue pole vaulting next year, or just focus on running, but it's been fun this season to watch him.

And to officially end the season he said the same exact thing to me last night as he did last year, "I'm ready for track season to be over and go back to cross country."

Keeping the Title

There seemed to be quite the buildup to the battle of the bands this week.

This is the only picture I've been able to get, and I still don't have video.

But I do have lots of pictures with the trophy, as they won again!

Rodeo

The rodeo has come and gone and I didn't even talk about it once! I was so disappointed with this year's line-up.  I either didn't know who they were, or really had no interest in seeing them.

Bad lineup aside, we did have fun at the BBQ cookoff as we always do.

And we did make it out to 1 rodeo.  We saw Hank Williams Jr, who I thought was terrible, and I think we stayed for 4-5 songs.

Here's hoping the best thing Houston has to offer will be better next year!

Skiing

The kids did lots of skiing, Jason did 1 day, and I did 0 (which was just fine with me).

There was a Storm

Since we've been home we've had lots of questions on how we survived the big snowstorm. I knew it was big news in Colorado, but I guess it hit the national scene.

Well, we faired very well.

It looked like this Wednesday about 1:00

Then this was Wednesday about 10:00

We went to bed, and woke up to this

The boys got up and went skiing, and Reed sent us a picture of what his skis looked like in all that powder.

And Kyle sent us this picture proving that he was somewhere he absolutely should not have been.

Chloe's Spring Break

Chloe did a great job riding to and from Breckenridge for Spring Break.

She was very excited when she got to town!

She made it to Main Street once or twice

And she had fun around the house

2 #1's

After missing last week's track meet for his BPA contest, Reed was back at it.

He got 1st in pole vault with 10 feet.

And I really thought he had made 10' 6" as evidenced by my subtle reaction.

Then he set a new PR in the mile coming in first with a time of 4:48.

Here he is making his move

And his finish

Big Weekend #3

Kyle and one of his friends went up to MawMaw and PawPaw's this weekend.  I don't think they caught many fish, but they did catch a possum.  And well, that's pretty big.

Big Weekend #2

Reed headed out last Wednesday night for Corpus Christi to compete at state with his group on their project Investing in the Digital Age.

They had activities all day Thursday and then did their presentation Friday mid-morning competing against 38 teams from all over the state.

They told us that the top 8 would make the finals, and I really had no idea how they might place since they've never done this before.  I texted Reed to see how it went and he said they did "good."

"Good." is the only answer I got.

Not "Great!" or "Awesome"

 Just "Good."

Luckily we had a mom on the ground to get us pictures, but she couldn't get any more than "good." out of them either.

So we were excited to hear about 8:00 Friday night that they were one of the 8 finalist and would be competing again early Saturday morning against "fierce" competition.

Once again on Saturday morning they said they did "good."

And when the results came out that evening I didn't know how to feel.

The top 3 state teams go on to nationals....and they came in 4th.

It's absolutely amazing they came in 4th in the state, but also a gut punch that they were so close to nationals.  But needless to say, we are super proud and impressed with these guys!

And Reed said he had "lots of fun".  (Which is still the only thing he's told me about the entire weekend.)

Big Weekend #1

We all had a big weekend this weekend, so we'll start with me.

JR had his parent's weekend this weekend and Grandpa Gary and Granny Buffie went with us.

We were able to have dinner with him Thursday night

On Friday we had lunch and a tour at his place of employment.

Then Friday night we had dinner and a party.

Saturday was lunch and a party at his house

And I got to see all "my" friends!

Jason and I did our best to keep up with kids, but Grandpa and Buffie definitely put us to shame!
