Halloween Choices

 Costumes choices are tough when you're this adorable.

Chloe can't decide if she wants to be a sailor. (She knows her mother loves to go on cruises.)

or a cowboy. (She knows her mother loves to dress up and go to the rodeo.)

Such a tough (and ruff) choice! 

Elvis Update #2

I predicted in my first update that considering how much Elvis loves to eat, he would be putting on weight fast.  At his first weigh in he went from 27 to 31 pounds.  I thought that was respectable, but Kyle added in some new food with lots of protein to his diet and he's ballooned up to 47 pounds! 

Besides eating, Elvis loves playing with Kyle.

But he still hates baths. He screams and tries to run away the whole time.

Not to be Outdone

 And since everyone else had a busy week last week, this little lady couldn't be left out.  

She had an overdue trip to the groomers, where she came out looking gorgeous!

Elvis- A Pig and a Pumpkin

 So this is not an Elvis the actual pig update.  This is an Elvis the pumpkin update.

Kyle had a pumpkin decorating contest for his FFA class, and you know we love a pumpkin contest around here (even though we never win).

Kyle wanted to do "Elvis the pig" for his pumpkin, so that's what we did.  

And, of course, we had all the materials right here in the house, except I did buy the sunglasses because none of ours were exactly what we wanted.

He didn't win the judged contest (of course), but he won the "student's favorite" (of course), so at least he walked away with this.

District

 Reed wrapped up his cross country season last week with the district meet.  He did a great job and finished a hilly 2-mile course in 12:33 coming in 16th place.

It's been a great season, and we are really impressed with his dedication.  It's definitely not fun to get up at 5:30 and go run before school every day!

  Next up for him is the Houston half marathon in January, which he doesn't really need to train for since he's already trained up. 

Catch Up

 We had a busy week and weekend last week, so I feel like I'm playing catch up.

Jason and I flew up this past weekend to attend an event with the Golden Child.  We had lots of fun and I'm so glad we went. 

We didn't know we were going until a few weeks ago, so we didn't get tickets to the game.  We just stayed at our tailgate tent, which was just as much fun.

And The Golden Child came by the tent after the game.

We actually got to spend way more time with him this weekend than we did at Parents Weekend.  

Elvis Update #1

 Well, just like his namesake, Elvis is the most popular pig at the Ham Palace (yes, that's the name of their pig barn).  Everyone is in love with Elvis, and he's by far the favorite and the cutest.  

He's also the smallest little nugget of the bunch, but the way he loves to eat he should be putting on weight fast!

He weighed in at 27 pounds yesterday and is doing great. 

He is definitely getting used to Kyle who has him eating out of the palm of his hand (literally). 

Elvis has figured out that he gets fed after his walk, so he high tails it back to his pen for feeding time!

Same here, Elvis.  Same.

Goodbye Hammy

 Well, Hammy has graduated on to that big exercise wheel in the sky.  He seemed to be doing just fine, he was even hanging out in the living room during his last cage cleaning.

RIP Hammy. 

2 More

 Reed has had 2 more cross country meets.  He only has one more left, which will be the district meet.  Both of these have been evening meets, which has been a change from all the early mornings.

Last week he finished 7th.  He didn't love his time (it was a hard course, so everyone's times were slower) but I love this picture I snapped of him as he was about to finish. 

Not only did he finish 7th, but he did it with his shoes untied.

This week he was on the track.  He wanted to finish under 12 minutes, but we'll take 12:03. and a 4th place finish.

Blow Ups 2022

 And because homecoming and pig day and all of the other excitement wasn't enough, Saturday was October 1st, so you know what that means.

Kyle and Reed were up bright and early setting up their Halloween blow up display.  

They added a new little ghost pumpkin this year, which I think looks super cute. 

And all our neighbors are copying us, by putting out more and more blowups, but none of theirs look as good as ours...obviously. 

Meet Elvis

 Kyle was supposed to raise chickens for FFA (because we thought that would be easiest and we told him that's what he was doing) but Kyle wanted to raise a pig, and so, of course, now he's raising a pig. 

Yesterday was pig selection day.  

He had 11th pick, and his little pig might seem upset, but he didn't squeal nearly as loudly as some others! 

Kyle named his pig Elvis, and little Elvis got all moved in to his new home at the ag barn.

Elvis was a little nervous, but he seemed to settle in pretty well.  And by the time Kyle left him he was taking a nap.

And so it begins! 

HOCO 2022- Day 2

 I would up making 4 nosegays for homecoming.  2 for mine, and 2 for friends.  And I definitely feel like these deserve some tooting of my own horn!

HOCO 22 Day 1

 I am flat worn out from homecoming weekend.  

2 groups of 2 days of 2 full lists of activities and nobody that can drive a car. 

I will say that Reed's group won the Friday night decorations, while Kyle's group won Saturday night.
