I think Jason and I might have just pulled off the birthday party of the year.
If you have kids then you know that all they want to do is flip water bottles.
It's ridiculous and completely annoying.
Most parents, like us, don't let the kids do it.
Water bottle flipping is also banned at the elementary and middle school. I'm telling you, it's awful.
I came home from picking Kyle and Reed up from a birthday party last weekend and Jason asked me how it was. I said "Oh, she had tons of stuff for them to do and all the kids would do is flip those stupid water bottles." So he said, "Why don't we just have a water bottle flipping party."
So that's what we did.
We figured we couldn't just buy 2 cases of water and call it a day, so we got them a Hummer stretch limo too.
The limo came before the party so we surprised JR by picking him and his friends up from school. High school next door neighbor, Dave, got home right before we left to get JR so Kyle and Reed were super excited to pick him up.
JR was totally surprised, and the boys were very excited, though you can see how "cool" they were playing it for the photo-op.
Waving at neighbors on the way home.
The party guests arrived and we loaded them up, drove to PDQ to pick up chicken nuggets, and drove to a neighborhood park.
We let them flip water bottles in the limo too. This is what it was like.
I know what you're thinking...bless my heart.
We had water bottle flipping contests and the winners got trophies (I forgot to take pictures of the trophies I made...yes, they were out of water bottles). You can see how excited they were.
And if you still don't understand water bottle flipping, here they are in the semifinals of one of their matches, I did a bad job videoing because I was supposed to be counting.
We drove them back home for cake.
These are the party guests.
And these are the ones that quit playing basketball long enough to come in and get some cake.
(You can see the top of one of my trophies.)
Of course it was a typical Ingersoll party, so the party didn't actually didn't end until 11 that night.
All the moms and dads were telling us at basketball the next day that the kids can't stop talking about it, and it was the best party ever.
Their teachers took a picture of them with their class to celebrate.
Reed's little "girlfriend" is the tiny one behind him not looking at the camera.
I love Kyle's class picture. It totally sums up Kyle and how his class feels about him...I guess we'll have to change his nickname from Mayor of the Ballfield to Mayor of the Classroom.
We surprised them with Benihanas for dinner. JR had a dance to go to so he missed out, but Cash went since they all share the same birthday.
It got down into the 20's here in Houston this weekend.
Which basically means everyone lost their minds.
I had to bring the plants in, which I think might be the first time in about 2 years.
Our bedroom looked like this
A water-pipe burst and sprayed a tree on the main road that we live off of.
Everyone acted like they'd never seen ice before.
People lined up to have their pictures made, and of course, stopped their cars in the middle of a crazy, busy 4 lane street with no regard to traffic or getting run over.
(I was on the sidewalk...I'm not about to risk life and limb for an ice tree!)
Some of us had a very exciting New Year's Eve, and others...not so much.
JR wins most exciting New Years ever, getting himself on the floor of the Rockets court pre-game to shoot free throws and winding up on both the televised game and SportsCenter.
I always thought he'd wind up on SportsCenter, I just thought it would be his speaking voice that got him there, not my poster making skills.
Kyle and Reed had spend the night guests and "champagne" toasts. Kyle was up until 4:00!
Chloe looked more like Jason and me, calling it a night pretty early.
We had Christmas morning the evening of December 28th.
We got home and saw that Santa had arrived and that the elf was gone (yay!)
We made it back at 4:00, and Kyle had basketball practice at 5:00, so we actually didn't have Christmas until he got back from that.
Favorite presents included:
2 ft tall stilts
A mini trampoline (so they would stop flipping off my couch) and a mat (so they would stop landing on my couch cushions.
They also got a slack rope...I'm pretty sure they want to run off and join the circus.
And they got a fish.
His name is Donald Trump Ingersoll
Kyle is already a master of the stilts (this was the first night he learned) and they've taken tons of videos of their flips, but they are all on Kyle's ipad so I'll have to post those later.
The slack rope is a lot trickier, Reed is the best at that with only 3 steps taken!
