Not a Losing Sunday

Reed played with his team tennis group on Sunday, and was the only one on his team to win their singles match.

He even made his opponent cry.

Which I normally wouldn't be bragging about, but since the kid kept calling balls "out" that were  clearly "in" (and he also called Reed a "butt-head")  I was a little smug that Reed's playing brought him to tears.

Always an entourage of a fan club wherever we go.

Losing Saturday

This was Reed's 4th championship game to ever play in. (3 basketball and 1 baseball) and he continues to have a perfect record in championship loses.

It's now become a running joke that it's just not in the cards for Reed's team to ever win.

But, he had a big fan club, and a big head of himself.  Plus he scored a point when he made one of his free-throws. (And was 1 of 2 kids on the team that didn't cry when they lost.)

Kyle as Reed.

Reed went straight to his baseball game, where they lost by 1.

The exact same thing happened to him last year. He lost the basketball championship and then lost a baseball game right after.

But Reed and Sean were all smiles since (besides getting to be on the same baseball team) they both hit great (Reed hit a triple) and were happy with their pitching (Reed) and catching (Sean).

Never Miss a Party

Our neighborhood had a Mardi Gras party on Friday night.

Normally I wouldn't miss a party, but since we have a standing date to the Rodeo BBQ Cookoff every year, Jason and I couldn't go.

When we pulled up Friday night we were greeted with this.

The Uber driver couldn't believe it until Jason said, "Well, we've got 3 boys."

I noticed how impressive of a wrapping job it was, and just assumed it was the high school theater girls, since I figured 10-11 year old girls couldn't have pulled that off.

I was shocked when we asked JR who wrapped us and he said, "A bunch of drunk adults.  They were really loud and thought they were hilarious."

So hilarious, in fact, that there are photos and videos of our house being wrapped all over Instagram and Facebook.

Another friend down the street had other plans Friday night too, and her house looked like this too.  So, moral of the story, always attend your neighborhood parties!

Year 5

This was our 5th year to do the BBQ cookoff with the same friends.

We've come a long way from the years that we used to only have 2 wristbands (meaning 2 booths).

I can't believe I walk around in real life this much shorter than everyone else!

I stood on my toes for this picture

I guess our favorite band broke up because there was only 1 girl left that we recognized, and they weren't as good.

But luckily we found a new favorite band that dressed up like 80's rock stars and sang everything awesome that I love.

It's certainly not my fault that the guitarist's abs were all that showed up in my picture when I tried to take a selfie with the band!

Go Texan Day

It's Go Texan Day here in Houston.

And what's more Texan than dissecting a cow eye ball?

Kyle was in my group.

This morning they had two parent volunteers cancel,  so Jason was recruited to help last minute.

Reed was in his group.

I was pretty impressed with his volunteering skills, and he even had on his boots. So he was all in for Go Texan Day!

So Cold!

Reed had a playoff basketball game and his first baseball game of the season at the same time last night.

We were counting on the baseball game being cancelled since it was drizzling on and off all day and freezing (freezing for Texas, not actually freezing).

JR and I were up in the press box and I snapped this picture of us as he scarfed down a burger before he started announcing...and yelling at me that I wasn't doing the scoreboard right.

When you wear your Colorado clothes to a baseball game in Texas there's a problem.

Reed played the first quarter of his basketball game and then rushed over so he could be the lead-off batter for baseball.  He pitched the 4th inning-3 up 3 down in 8 pitches.

This is the only picture I got of him (he's up to bat).

They won both their basketball game and baseball game!
That means he's in the basketball finals on Saturday (2nd year in a row) and, the best part, we shouldn't have anymore overlapping games!

So Much

There was so much basketball and baseball this weekend.
Reed's team won their 2nd playoff game, so they are still going.

He had a basket, lots of steals, and a nice little fan club in the stands.

We were all happy to have off from school today to recover from a big weekend.

My Last One

After 11 years (or so) of making Valentines/Valentine boxes, and hosting Valentine's parties yesterday was the end of it.

I made Reed a taco Valentine's box.

And Kyle got the poop emoji.

I was in charge of the party, and it's a tradition for the Kona Ice truck to come for the 5th graders, so that's what we did.

Reed's posse waiting for snow cones.

Sean and Kyle waiting on the rest of the posse.

And now I'm kinda sad that it's all over.

Exhausted

Having so many Valentine suitors is exhausting.

It's rough being this beautiful.

Got a Cool Picture

Kyle didn't do as well as we had hoped he would at his diving meet in Dallas this weekend.

But Jason did get this super cool picture of him doing mixed synchro with his partner, Jillian.

On to the Next Thing

JR finished up "My Fair Lady" this past weekend.
He had so much fun and I was so impressed with the show.

He had grandparents in attendance for Friday night's show and Saturday's matinee.

This Little Thing

The intersection of baseball and basketball season hasn't fazed this little thing.
He scored a season high 8 points, and as he likes to put it,  "had loads of steals".

We were super proud.

One more regular season game and then playoffs.

Whew

I don't even know where to begin.
JR is doing show 5 of 7 of  My Fair Lady tonight (I'm volunteering at all shows).

Reed is finishing up basketball season and beginning baseball season which is always a few crazy weeks.

Kyle is diving 4 days a week and is at a diving meet this weekend in Dallas.

And I'm in charge of our school's 5th grade graduation fundraiser and just sold, cutely labeled, and organized  2,000 friendship bracelets for Valentine's Day.

Whew.

This Weekend's Audience

So who came to see JR's show this weekend?

Well, Friday night Jason and Granny Sherry were in the audience.

And Saturday night was JR's elementary school music teacher (which, yes, is also Kyle and Reed's) and one of my little talent show regular performers.

Every Year

Why is it that about this time every year I have to post about JR's hatred of Tom Brady.
It literally consumes our entire house...and makes us all miserable.

We tried to stuff him full of wings to keep him quiet.

It didn't work.

I could care less what happens today...as long as Tom Brady doesn't win.

Opening Night

JR started his run in My Fair Lady last night.

It's all this weekend and next weekend (plus the Thursday nights.)

I think his head shot is pretty cute.

Marshall and Dylan came to see him on opening night.
Dylan said, "JR had played it down, but he was really good."

And Reed's 2nd grade teacher was there.  One of the senior girls in the show is one of her helper teachers so she came to see her, and bonus...got to see JR.
