The Party 4 14

JR's birthday was, as usual, an extravaganza.

We took the boys to Whataburger (no picture).

Then to an Astros game.
I'm guessing there's about $500 worth of Astros paraphernalia on their bodies.

They sat a few rows in front of us, so it was like Jason and I were almost on a date!

After the game we went to Hard Rock Cafe (and had separate tables).

And then we did a downtown Houston segway tour.
We did the "twilight tour" so it wouldn't be so hot!

Our guide was super impressed with the boys knowledge of Texas history, we had to remind him that they were all in the 7th grade and had just finished up a whole year of Texas history.

The boys loved the segways, and Jason and I learned more about Houston than living here our entire lives.  We literally didn't know one of the things that we were taught.

We finished up with ice cream at Baskin Robbins and called JR's birthday celebration a total success.

14

This is what you look like on the day you turn 14 while your little brother photo bombs you.

And this is what you look like on the day you turn 14 after you kick him out of the picture.

What Happened?

It all so happend so fast I don't even know what went down.

All of a sudden these two each had a hamster.

And each hamster had a house that looks like the Taj Mahal.

And Donald Trump Ingersoll got new digs more fitting for a Trump.

And Chloe and I are still shaking our heads wondering how it all happened.

Behind (in more ways than one)

How is it already Friday?  I've been meaning to post all week, but we are still in school and I have the talent show next week.  Just as it did last year, it is totally consuming my life, so I've gotten behind on blogging.

I was able to break away from talent show duties long enough to go see U2 on Wednesday night.

I'm still not sure how Jason swung it, but his fancy pants self somehow got us backstage passes.

These weren't "hang out with the band" backstage passes, we literally went right behind the stage
Here's what it looks like.

But even better than that, we got to go ON stage before the show.
For someone who has never met a stage she didn't love, this was pretty awesome.
One of my friends actually texted me and said. "I just saw you on the stage!"

Here's what the stage looked like when the show started.

I just wanted to hear their old stuff, which is what they played.
Bono's voice still sounds the same, so it might as well have been 1987...which was perfect.

Principal of the Day

We bought principal of the day for JR at the middle school auction this year.

He got to be the principal on Friday and he loved being in charge.

He caught kids vaping in the bathroom, got to get his friends out of class, taught 6th grade music, went to the administration building, went to the high school, went to the 8th grade picnic, and monitored 6th grade lunch.

Here he is preparing for the day
He wore a bow tie because their principal wears bow ties all the time.

Their principal took JR and 3 of his friends out to lunch off campus.  I made JR promise to take a selfie of them and this is what I got.
2 friends half faces, but JR and his principal are in it, I guess JR was only letting the bosses be in the picture.

According to JR is was definitely money well spent.

Golden Child

It's hard to convince Kyle and Reed that JR isn't the grandparents' favorite.
Especially when JR walks around telling them he's "the golden child".

And when Maw-Maw writes a thank you note on 13 year old stationary, it doesn't help.

That's an "Out"!

We are done with baseball season.  (They might play in a tournament, but the season is over for us.)

Both kids lost in their first playoff game, which we were kind of expecting.
Especially Reed's team, since one of the moms showed up with this sign.

The boys thought the sign was awesome.

The younger Ingy boys might be done with the season, but JR isn't.  He's calling one of the games tomorrow night.

The boys had fun, and it's nice to have our nights and weekends back.

Mother's Day

I actually started celebrating Mother's Day on Thursday.
I went to a luncheon with 50 of the other moms from our elementary school.

I was one of the last 5 left.  Nothing better than a 4 1/2 hour luncheon.

Sunday we went to brunch after church and I got to take a nap.  It was a perfect day!

Here I am with ALL my babies.

With my mom

And all the moms and their kids.

Worst Day of Her Life

Chloe says last Friday was the worst day of her life.

Not only did she have to go to the groomers, but she had a new puppy move in next door.

She is very concerned about the cuteness of the puppy.

And was very upset to see Kyle using his "puppy face" on another dog.

She has been trying very hard to show us she's just as cute as any ol' new puppy!

Mine are Better

As you know, I refuse to buy sports pictures because they are always awful.
I wish everyone would quit buying them so we wouldn't even have to take them.

You get a "free" package of pictures (it's include with your registration) at the little league we are at now, and even though Kyle's picture isn't terrible, mine is still better.

No comparison how much better mine is for Reed's pictures.

And why do they take pictures with the kids having to look into the sun?
Not one kid has their eyes open on Reed's team.

And, by the way, the giant child on Kyle's team is a 2nd grade girl!

3rd Year

This is the 3rd year in a row Jason and I have attended the Child Advocates fundraiser.
I guess we never have anything better to do because we are always free to go.

This year the theme was "western chic".

Unlike last year, I didn't wind up on stage at the end of the night performing my go-to song "Girls, Girls, Girls" by Motley Crue.

But it was still fun,

Hakuna Matata

JR played Mufasa in 4 shows of the Lion King this weekend.

I didn't see JR in Little Women before Christmas, so this is the first show I've seen JR in since the fall of his 6th grade year.

Jason and I both commented it was weird seeing him as one of the oldest kids in the show. He's definitely grown up.

Some of the shows Baby Simba was played by the director's 2 year old son (which was really cute). This show baby Simba was a stuffed animal.

There was a lot of JR looking over his kingdom.

His big death scene.
I think this is his first death scene he's ever had.

He did get to come back and sing and dance in Hakuna Matata (as a chorus member, obviously not as Mufasa) and then he was also an elephant in Circle of Life in the finale.

It was a fun show!
