Easy to Find

Last night at open house Kyle and Reed's classes had little descriptive cards laid out for us to find their desks (instead of their names).

I knew exactly which cards belonged to my kids.

Reed:

I love art
I love to play football
My "iese" (eyes) are blue
I love to play baseball
I love to go watch football with my "granpaw".

Kyle:
(I'm not sure it's possible for him to look anymore like Jason in this picture)

I like to skateboard.
My favorite thing to do is watch movies on my itouch.
My favorite subject is acting.
My favorite food is daddy's ribs.

All is Right with the World

The boys went to the Texans game yesterday, and were excited to just have their picture taken with a picture of JJ....but it just got better from there.

They had passes to go on the sidelines before the game, and JJ tossed the ball back and forth to each of my kids. Cause that happens every day.

Then, as warm up was over, Kareem Jackson #25, ran by Reed and asked him if he wanted his gloves. Again, no big deal, since JR tells me Kareem made an interception yesterday.
And yes, everyone in the family has tried on the gloves and Reed took them to show his class today.

Then, one of my friends called me to tell me to look on the Texans website cause my kids were on the main page.

Here's the picture close up.
I asked JR, did they ask you to pose?  He said, "No, I saw one of those guys with the big cameras and it was just the punters and kickers on the field, so I asked him to take a picture of us."

Of course you did.

Oh, and The Texans won...but that seemed to not even matter.

Announcing Again

It didn't take JR long to figure out how to navigate middle school.

He had himself a spot on the morning announcement team by labor day, and as Jason and I introduced ourselves to his teachers at Open House last night, we heard him referred to as "Mr. Hollywood",  "Broadway", and "My most famous student".

He was even chosen to do the announcements for open house last night.
Usually they're done over the TV, but they weren't last night.

I'm only uploading the end because the beginning part you can't hear since his teacher is telling everyone he "always sounds like that" and other parents are asking us if that's our kid.
(Um, yes, why in the world would I be videoing announcements otherwise?)

So here's a tiny little snippet.

Lunch With Heroes

On September 11th each year Kyle and Reed's school has lunch with heroes.  It's so fun to see how excited the kids get to see all these heroes.

Kyle wanted to be in a picture with as many as possible.

And Reed wanted a picture in a FBI bullet proof vest.

And then, of course, we have to have friends in our class pictures.

Boys in Bunches

So if you're wondering about the boys' sleepover, and what having 6 boys at your house is like...

Really, it isn't much different (or louder) than having our usual 3.
We just put them outside and let them loose.

They swam

And we made them eat outside.

At one point I looked up and every single one of them was trying to make fart noises with their armpits at the "dinner table".  I had to explain to Jason that armpit farts aren't little girls number one choice of dinner time activities.

Then they got the teenage boys across the street to play street football with them (which was pretty much a dream come true for this 7 year old crowd) and when the big guys went in they continued with their own street football game until 9:30.  Reed has road rash on both his elbow and stomach which he's quite proud of.

They slept in front of the TV upstairs and I went to bed around 11 and never heard a peep until 7:30 the next morning.   I'd say it was successful all around!

Britney!

So I finally made it out to see Britney Spears in Las Vegas over labor day weekend.
Cassidy planned the trip, and I think we bought the tickets way back in February.

I thought Britney was in Vegas every night, but she only does one show a night Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.  She also will take weeks off at a time.  Our show was one of the last ones she was doing for a month or so and they'll have Pitbull while she's off.

We flew in Friday morning and did the whole "Vegas" thing. We had a suite at Planet Hollywood which was very nice.

Then Saturday night we went to Britney.

We had our make-up done at MAC (loved my big fake eyelashes) and went to dinner at Tao to kill time before the show.

We had front row seats!
In front of us was the pit (standing only) which I'm so glad we weren't in because I wouldn't have been able to see a thing since I'm so short.

The tickets were crazy expensive, I figured you got to meet Britney for the price (you do not) but you do get a "free" bottle of champagne.

But the ticket price was totally worth it.
She was right there.

And she looks amazing.

The show was exactly what I wanted it to be and my only complaint is I wish it was longer!

We spent Sunday at the pool (at Planet Hollywood) and had a cabana. The Chippendales had a cabana 2 down from ours, but they didn't come out much.

And then we headed home on Monday. It was a super awesome trip with sweet and fun girls and I'm so glad I went!

The Stuggle Is Real

It's good to be little when your itouch battery has run out, but your movie on Netflix isn't over.

We're Better

We are doing better. And by "better" I mean I'm able to not break down in tears while walking through the grocery store. The kids want to make a stone with Hunter's name on it for the yard, and I think that is a good idea.

On a brighter note, the kids are really enjoying the new house.  We moved so they could be closer to school and have friends over and they have taken full advantage.  Kyle and Reed had someone over Friday night, (we moved in on Thursday) Saturday, and after school today.  They are having 4 boys spend the night tomorrow, and I think JR is having a friend over too.

We are also throwing ourselves a "come meet us and welcome us to your neighborhood" party next weekend, which I am looking forward to.  I hope people will like to come to our parties here as much as they did in Denver.

I still need to write about my trip to Vegas to see Britney, but I will get there when I'm feeling more up for it.

Our Hunter

I thought I could write this, but I've already broken down in hysterics 3 times this morning and it's only 9:00 AM, so we'll see.
Our precious Hunter died in Jason's arms at 9:00 last night.

He started having a seizure Saturday night around 10:30 and he never fully recovered.  He had a few seizures at the beginning of the summer, but he had been doing great since then so this wasn't expected and is a total shock to us.

Hunter was my Valentine's present from Jason in 2002.
I have no idea why I only have a photocopy of this picture, I'd give anything to have a real one.

I'm still so upset I can't really eulogize him properly. All I can think to say is thank you for helping me raise my kids, Hunter.

You did such a good job with them.

JR

Kyle

And Reed

You were perfect for us.
