Sneaking Off

Jason and I snuck off to Galveston for a few days, and when I say "snuck" I mean, we asked the kids if they wanted to come with us...and they said no.

So we walked on the beach

And ate where we wanted

And made commentary on the wildlife

More Track

I think we are about done with track season.

Last week Reed got 1st in pole vault, 3rd in the 3600, and 6th in the 1600.

He definitely makes pole vaulting look easy (which I know it's not)

And these are some of my new favorite pictures.

Pics and a New Baby

I think I forgot to mention that Jason and I actually bought a steer at Kyle's FFA auction. I had no idea Jason was planning on buying an animal or I would have worn a cuter outfit! In fact, the first I heard of us buying anything was when I started hearing our name called out by the auctioneer.  We just our buyer plaque this week, so here we are with our purchase.

And when your friends buy your kid's pig and ask you to be in the picture with them, you get in the picture with them.  So we're actually in Kyle's buyer plaque too!

And speaking of animals.  They had 2 new baby sheep and a baby goat born at the ag barn.  Just look how precious this little baby goat is.  I'm so glad Kyle sent this video of him petting it so I could see it. It looks like a puppy!

Spring Break Wrap Up

Since Jason and I didn't ski, I had to rely on these two for pictures.  And I actually got 2, which is more than I was expecting since I didn't specifically ask for any.

They also skied with a friend at Keystone one day, so I got this one.

None of their ski clothes fit them this year, but thankfully we had JR's stuff in the closet.  And speaking of JR, he had a great time in Destin (where he thankfully stayed out of trouble!)

My Arms Have Finally Recovered

Jason and I didn't ski this year, but we did go snowmobiling, which we haven't done in years!

The cool riders look way cooler without Jason and me on the back.

I hung on for dear life and my arms were sore for 2 days.  Also my back took a beating from all the bumps (as you can imagine I didn't squeal or complain at all!)

Jason acting like he's fine

This is the way Kyle takes a break

What Things Look Like

We made it home from spring break in time to finish up the rodeo with Luke Bryan.  He said last night he's performed at the rodeo 10 times. Here's what you look like when you're pretty sure you've seen him at least 5 or 6 of those times.

It snowed quite a bit while we were in Colorado, here's what the porch looked like on different days.

And if you're wondering what a fox would look like with a rat's tail, here it is.  We think this guy (or gal) is living across the way as we saw him almost every day.  We have no idea what's going on with his tail, but he sure is a sight.

And finally, here's what you look like when you're upset you don't get to go out to lunch everyday like you do in the summer because it's still too cold for outdoor seating.

Not Worth It

Kyle said the hour hike up to the top "wasn't worth it", but it looks to me like it was.

Worth It

We are on spring break, but that doesn't mean Reed takes a break from running.

He took this picture yesterday morning and posted it on his running app.  I couldn't believe how amazing it was.  The altitude might be doing a number on his time, but I think the view is worth it!

2 More

We've had 2 more rodeos this rodeo season.

Jason and I went to see another Jason, Jason Aldean

And when you've sat in the same seats for the last 9 years you get texts from your friends sitting on the other side of the stadium.

Then I went to one of the best shows since Pitbull and Kid Rock.
New Kids on the Block were the absolute best!

I'm not sure we could have had any more fun.

In between

In between all the rodeoing we've been able to fit in 2 track meets.

Reed placed 1st in pole vault in both meets.

In the 1600 he placed
6th with a time of 5:32
and then this week he had a new PR with 5:25, but still came in 4th.

In the 3600 he placed 2nd last week with a new PR of 11:13
This is what you look like after you run a 2-mile PR.

And this week he placed 4th.

So far so good this season, and I think we have 2 more meets left.

All in One Day

We had about a million things on the calendar for Saturday.  Kyle and Reed had their first day of umpiring.  They did 2 games in the morning, which I forgot to take a picture of them so all I have is Reed in the back of the car on the way to the rodeo.  Kyle was already changing clothes.

When we got there the boys took off to ride rides.  Jason and I happily did not ride rides.

This is what happens when you let Kyle in the funhouse wheel.

They played games and won giant animals.

And then we went to the rodeo

And since on the weekends the rodeo is in the afternoon, Jason and I were able to go to a gala that evening for the museum.  I guess I never took the kids to the museum here because it doesn't look anything like what I remember.  I remember there being a giant dinosaur when you walked in, but I didn't see a dinosaur the whole night.  The theme was tropical/cruise/ yacht rock, so we went full-on Miami. Jason went as Miami Vice, and I went as The Golden Girls.  Of course, I want to be Balance, but I'm guessing I'm way more Dorothy.

Pre, 1st, and 2nd

It's rodeo time and we've been hitting it up hard and heavy.

I guess you can call the BBQ cookoff pre-rodeo since it isn't exactly the rodeo.  We missed last year, so we were happy to be back.  We literally can only handle 1 night once a year.

Then we did the 1st night of the rodeo along with every teenage girl in Houston with Parker McCollum performing.

And last night was night 2 with the old folks, as it was Brooks and Dunn.

We have a few nights off before we head back again.
