All the Bruises

As the coach says, "Reed isn't any bigger than a grasshopper, but he runs harder than anybody else."  Which I guess means he gets thrown farther than anybody else when he gets tackled! Watching him get tossed across the field is enough to give this mama a heart attack.

Reed's the one with the ball and getting tossed.

He's able to spin out of one tackle, but gets pushed to the ground on the next one.

This one includes me screaming like a crazy person after he catches the ball, but also a shove to the ground that JR says should have been called against the kid.

And here's what Reed's arms looked like the day after.

At the Pool

Sometime things look really pretty at the pool.

And sometimes they're not so pretty

But things always look scary.
I couldn't even do the warm up!

What They Did

So while I was home making mums (and supervising JR's comings and goings) the rest of the family was at MawMaw and PawPaw's where Kyle killed a bobcat (it ran off into thick brush and they couldn't find it for a picture) and Reed caught the biggest bass that's ever been caught in their pond weighing in at 4 pounds!

What I Did Today

I'm not sure why I volunteered to help out friends and make extra mums and garters, but here we are.

My favorite thing I did is JR is taking a girl he works with at Bahama Buck's and I was able to sneak in a snowcone!

A Tie for the Win

The first game of Reed's football season was Monday night.  Last year they only scored 2 touchdowns the whole season and never won a game.  On Monday they scored a touchdown and tied the game (which I'm counting as a win).

And, even better, Reed scored the touchdown!

(I should have much better pictures coming from the professional, but for now we have to make due with mine.)

Reed played running back and had at least 4 first downs.  He gained yards almost every single play.

For the touchdown (which he actually did twice, but they called the first one back because someone was standing in the wrong spot) they moved him to wide receiver.

Here comes the ball

And here he's about to catch it.

I don't have pictures of him catching it and running it in because I was too busy jumping up and down and screaming like a crazy person.

Here are some running back pictures. Reed's the one with the ball.

He gets right back up after getting tackled so many times.

And the "winning" scoreboard

At Least It's an Easy Cleanup

I keep thinking we're almost at the age where we've outgrown wrapping houses.  But if the two Suburbans full of 13 year old girls that showed up at our house about 10 last night are any indication, no, we haven't outgrown it.

There were lots of squeals when the girls looked in the windows only to see Kyle and Reed looking back at them, and even Chloe joined the fun when I opened the door to say hello.  And when I say "joined the fun" I mean ran around like a crazy person and somehow wound up inside our next door neighbors house.

We Had a Hurricane

I wasn't even aware we had rain in the forecast, and then all of a sudden we had a hurricane hit us.  They cancelled the Harry Style's concert last night (which, yes, I was supposed to go to) and school today. I sat up all night waiting for our electricity to go out since Hurricane Nicholas was much more of a wind event than a rain event.

I finally fell asleep about 5:30 this morning after listening to 60 mile an hour wind gusts all night.  Thankfully we never lost our electricity, but JR's school still doesn't have it so Kyle and Reed are furious that they have to go to school tomorrow and JR doesn't.

It was only a category 1 hurricane, but it went directly over us.  Nobody in this house even seemed to notice...except Chloe and me.

Consequences

Here's what happens when you eat PawPaw's chickens.

And if you're a fish, you're definitely going to get caught...even with a fly rod.

More Football

We went to the Aggie game this weekend and it was fun seeing everybody back in the stands!

It was the red, white, and blue game to honor September 11th, and we were in the white section.  It looked awesome.

I'm fine with cheering, but I still refuse to do the fight song.

Thankfully it was an evening game so we weren't so hot!

Football Update

So I'd say the games are going well.

He's even taken up "performing" with the drill team during pre game.

As a former drill teamer I almost had a heart attack. I kept waiting for the director to come unglued. Luckily for JR, the director is on maternity leave, and the drill team parents thought it was funny.  Whew!

He's definitely having a great time.
