Pole Vaulting

Our next door neighbor, Ben, is on the 8th grade track team and won district last year in pole vaulting.
Kyle and Reed love him (and everything he does) so they went to his track meet to watch him.

As you can see by the pictures they were in hog heaven.

That's Ben in the middle.  Look at Kyle trying to talk with the "big" kids.

Ben won, and set a personal record. The boys think he's even more of a rock star now.

I'm about 99% sure we'll have 2 pole vaulters in the family.

Basketball Out

We are finished with basketball!

It was a fun season for both of them, and I'm glad we let them play on different teams.

Nobody went to the championship, but Reed played about 4 playoff games which just about killed us.

Both boys are great at defense. They're too short to block shots, but they'll steal that ball in a second.

This is my favorite video of the season.  This is Reed stealing the ball from the other team and making his shot.

Ingy Vs Ingy- Baseball Edition

The first baseball game of the season put Kyle's team up against Reed's team.

It was way harder to cheer for both baseball teams than basketball teams, and I'm glad I got it over with.

Kyle is playing catcher and Reed is playing 1st base.
Kyle is a great catcher since he isn't scared of the ball.

I was so busy going back and forth, this is the only picture I took during the game.
Reed batting and Kyle catching

I had no idea how to cheer when Reed got Kyle out at 1st.
Kyle also tried to get Reed out steeling 2nd base.

I believe I screamed "Don't get your brother out!" both times.

Kyle's team won 6-1.

Both of their teachers came to watch, but Reed isn't in the picture because he jumped in the car as soon as the game was over so he could make it in time to play in the 2nd half of his basketball playoff game.

It will be nice to cheer for one team at a time from now on!

Go Texan Day

It's Go Texan Day, but nobody in my family had any interest in dressing up.
Kyle wore his Davy Crockett coon-skinned cap, but that's as "Texas" as he got.

You know you're a bad mom when you ask your kid to take their own selfie to document their dress up day.

Hang On

This should be the last time you hear me mention basketball and baseball season overlapping because this is the last week of it.

We're hanging in there!

Mary Poppins

With all the excitement of the Super Bowl, and it being both baseball and basketball season, I totally forgot to write about going to see Mary Poppins.

Memorial High School (where JR will go) was doing Mary Poppins and Granny Buffie took JR to see it.  I didn't think much about it, but when he got home he couldn't stop talking about how amazing it was and that we had to go.

Kyle and Reed had never seen Mary Poppins and didn't want to go at all. But JR insisted that we would all love it (and JR is the toughest critic around, so I knew we would like it).

I was excited to go because our across the street neighbor, Peyton (who is a freshman), was playing Jane and I wanted to see her.

When we got there we ran in to some friends.  And this picture just cracks me up.

Yes, the tall one is in 3rd grade and one of Kyle's good friends.  Henry came to see his babysitter, who was in the chorus, and wore a suit for the occasion.  (I was just lucky mine didn't wear pajamas.)

I picked the best seats I could find for us, so none of us even sat together for the show.  I was a few seats down from Reed, but Kyle and JR were nowhere near us or each other.

JR was right, the show was fantastic.  The girl who played Mary Poppins is a senior this year, but when she was a sophomore she played Imogene Herdman with JR in Best Christmas Pageant Ever when he was in 5th grade.  She's the one in the overalls in the back.   She was a great Imogene then, and a perfect Mary Poppins.

Our neighbor, Peyton, was thrilled to see JR.  She was in choir with him last year.  When she saw us she screamed "JR! I saw you in the audience on Thursday night! I'm so glad you came back!"  She was also amazing, and I was so proud of her.

Kyle and Reed loved the show, and I've even heard them singing Supercalifragilistic a few times since then.

The Culprit

This is the reason Jason and I find ourselves running around each night trying to chase down and catch a barking Chloe.

It's getting real old, real fast.

Valentined

The popcorn monkey vases were a huge success. The kids loved them and all wanted to win them.
The parties went fine, and all the little girls were super excited about their roses.

We all love Kyle's homeroom teacher so much!  I'm so glad they switch classes in 3rd grade so Reed gets her too,

That's Reed's little Valentine over his shoulder.

We went to dinner last night, and this was the only picture JR would let me take of him...doing his Donald Trump impression, of course.

My Valentines got bouquets from me, which they all complained about because Jason's bouquet was full of beef jerky and why didn't I get them any beef jerky?
I cannot win with this bunch!

Don't You Love It?

Don't you wish you were getting these Valentines tomorrow?
(Yes, the roses are fake.)

I was in charge of getting together the Valentine's party for all six of the 3rd grade classes.
It's a very exciting party....they're making their Valentine bags and then passing out Valentines.

But check out the "estimation vases" I made.
(The kids have to guess how many kernels of pop corn are in it.)
It has Skinny Pop popcorn in it because that is literally the only food that nobody in the 3rd grade is allergic to.
(Not even kidding, I had a long conversation with and approval by the nurse.)

I added all the awesomeness so that the winner will actually be excited about getting popcorn.

Quick Pics

My blogging has bogged down ever since basketball and baseball seasons collided. With Kyle and Reed each on their own basketball and baseball teams, plus JR's activities, each child pretty much needs their own chauffeur...Or 3 adults are needed to run this household.

Mama and Paw-Paw came down this weekend to witness the craziness, and these are the only pictures I quickly snapped after Reed's basketball game.  I have no idea where Kyle had run off to...there's really no telling.

A Month Late

It was a month yesterday that these two turned 9.
But it was last week that their birthday message was on the marquee at school.

Oh well, I was busy at the auction and this is was the only week I could get.

And I didn't say it was their birthday, I just said they were 9.
So that works, right?

Superbowl

Jason went to the Superbowl and lived to tell about it.
He left the house Sunday morning about 9:30 and got home about 11:00 that night.

He said it was fun and he's glad he went.
I asked if it was worth it, and he said it was.

He also said Lady Gaga did not jump down out of the ceiling/off the roof.

Here are the pictures I got from him.

Our across the street neighbors also went and she sent me this.

JR went to a Superbowl party with his friends, and unfortunately, when I got home from my party I found him balled up in the couch in hysterics over the outcome.

He did stop crying long enough to change our message board...you can see his swollen eyes and sweated down hair from all the wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Super Houston

You might have heard there's a little game being played here in a few hours.
Jason's actually there now.

I wasn't interested in going anywhere near all the craziness, but we did go to a party that The Texans hosted for the NRG suite holders.

It was insane getting there, but once we were inside it was fine since it was a private event.
I'm pretty sure there were a bunch of famous people there, but none of them were famous enough for me to know who they were.

For the 5th Graders

JR sang for the incoming 5th graders when they came to visit the middle school.
I definitely think he convinced some kids to sign up for choir.

Flipping Progress

Here's the gymnastics progress they're making watching YouTube videos.

I never dreamed a giant beanbag could be used like they use it.
