Umpiring and Impersonating

As we always are in the spring, we are meeting ourselves coming and going.

Kyle was at diving practice yesterday working on a back half half (Back 1/2 +1/2 twist) on the 1 meter.

Kyle and I finished diving and got to Reed's baseball game in time to see him pitch.
(He had 8 strikeouts.)

And then I had to leave Reed's baseball game to go pick up JR from umpiring for a different baseball league.

When I got there he was umpiring a game that a bunch of our neighborhood kids play on. One of my neighbors told me, "JR is our favorite! We've been making him do his Trump impersonation between innings!"

Here is working, not Trumping.

KKKKKKKKK

I missed Reed's baseball game on Saturday, but I was sitting in the stands (because JR fired me from the press box) on Sunday.

Reed was the starting pitcher and he did an awesome job.

On a side note, sitting in the stands watching your kid pitch is awful.  It's soooo stressful!

Reed had 9 strikeouts and no walks.

The coach didn't take him out until he pitched his 50 pitch limit.  They lost their game, but the coach still gave Reed the game ball because of his pitching.

Chloe was pretty proud of him too.

Flordia Bound

Kyle and I went to Dallas this weekend for him to compete in the AAU Red, White, and Blue National qualifier.

I didn't really understand this meet at first, but the short version is every Memorial Day weekend AAU diving hosts the Red, White, and Blue Nationals meet.  The country is divided up into Red, White, and Blue sections and the top 6 divers from each division get to compete.  So this past weekend was the qualifying meet to go to Coral Springs, Florida for Memorial Day.

Kyle started bright and early Saturday morning (we were up at 6:15) and placed 4th on 3 meter.

I was busy talking (surprise, surprise) and forgot to take a podium picture.  But I did get this one with some of his team mates.

We went to lunch (Georgi went with us to Dallas) and then came back to dive 1 meter in the afternoon.

Kyle had one of his best meets ever on 1 meter and was sitting in 2nd place until the 4th round.
He finished 3rd and was very happy.

Clearly, 5th place was also very happy.

We Saw 8 out of 21

The rodeo is officially over and the Ingersolls did more rodeoing (and hat wearing) this year than ever before.

We saw:

Kasey Musgraves

Turnpike Troubadours (with JR)

Panic! At the Disco

Old Dominion

 Tim McGraw

Cody Johnson (with JR)

Brad Paisley (No photo-JR only)

And, of course, George Strait

Now taking out George Strait (because how can you compare anybody to him?) our other two favorite acts were Cody Johnson and Tim McGraw.  JR says Brad Paisley was up there too, but I wasn't there to judge that one.

County Stars Love The Ingersolls

I mentioned yesterday that JR gave up his Aggie baseball ticket.
He had a better offer to go to the rodeo with his friend, James.

James had "action seats" which are the same seats I was in when Tim McGraw and I held hands.

JR was there to see Brad Paisley, who also left the stage to walk around.  He walked by JR and gave him his guitar pick.

Which has his name on.

Pretty cool!

I Don't Say Nice Things About Them Often

We had tickets to an Aggie baseball game on Saturday.

Now I normally don't enjoy Aggie things, but I must say, Aggie baseball games are a blast.

JR gave up his ticket (more on that tomorrow), Kyle isn't a fan of sitting through team sport games, so Jason and I took Reed and Pierce up to College Station for the afternoon.

Pierce and Reed have both been to plenty of profession baseball games and both of them said, "this is the most fun baseball game I've ever been to."

The Aggie fans are absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible.
They heckle the umpires and the other team's coaches and players.  They blow bubbles and have funny chants.  It was really funny.
Now had they been playing UT I wouldn't have enjoyed their antics, but since they weren't, it was great.

Where were the Others?

So while Kyle was diving and Reed and I were killing time at Chuck E. Cheese, Jason and JR were killing birds in Uruguay.

The last time Jason went bird hunting in Uruguay he came home with a stomach parasite that took months to get rid of, so I told him I was fine with them going as long as they didn't bring any parasites back!

They went with Jason's dad and some other friends from Jason's office and it sounds like they had a great time (though given a choice I'd rather just go to Chuck E. Cheese).

Not a Model Camper

Chloe went to "dog camp" while we were on spring break.
She stays with a very cute and sweet young couple that keep dogs as a side business, and they always send pictures.

As you can see, all the other dogs are happily sitting on the bed with each other, but notice Chloe is turned away from them all...and is pretty much pouting that they are on the bed with her.

They have a baby gate that they put up when they leave the house so all the dogs stay in the kitchen area.  Chloe was having non of that either.  She would climb and jump the gate and go sit herself on the couch in the living room while all the other dogs had to stay in the kitchen.

Shunning other dogs and jumping baby gates takes a lot out of you, so she was definitely worn out when she got home.

HIGHlights

Kyle loved his 3 days of diving from "the tower".

He did some amazing things, including this handstand from the 5 meter (16 feet)

Reed even brought his bathing suit and got to see just how hard and scary it is.  He jumped from the 5 meter, but said the 3 meter was "way higher" than he thought it was going to be.  He said he couldn't have jumped from the 7 meter.

Speaking of 7 meter.  Kyle did a backflip off of it.

And they did more fun synchro things.  Here's one I thought was cool.
(That's Kyle alone on the 5 meter.)

Here's the group picture of the kids from his team that dove this week.

And if you're wondering why it's so fuzzy, they took the picture from the 10 meter, so they looked like this in real life!

Fiesta Texas

After Kyle was finished diving we headed over to Fiesta Texas for our spring break hurrah.

As luck would have it, Cassidy and Cassie were also in San Antonio and at Fiesta Texas so I got to see them!

And my boys got to see their kids.

Just the boys.

Shooting skeletons

I told Kyle and Reed we could stay as long as they wanted since we didn't get in to the park until about 2:00.

The park closes at 10:00, and these two rode rides until they kicked us out.
We walked out the gate at 10:20.

I'd say we did Fiesta Texas up big.

Second Verse Same as the First

So today was pretty much exactly the same as yesterday.

Reed and I went back to Chuck E. Cheese to finish using up his Chuck E. Cheese points.

High score in basetball

100 ticket bonus in Harpoon Lagoon

Kyle's diving coach used to dive in diving shows, so he enjoys the "fun stuff" and not just the technical stuff.  At the end of practice he told all the kids to figure out how to hit the water at the same time.  I think they did a pretty good job.

Kyle is the only kid not in high school so he's the little one on the 7 meter (the 2nd tallest platform).

Then we came back and the boys played at the hotel.

And each one won a slushie.

First Day of SB

Kyle. Reed, and I are in San Antonio. (Jason and JR are hunting).

We normally wouldn't pick San Antonio for a spring break vacay destination, but Kyle is doing platform diving for 3 days.

And with Kyle diving half the day, that leaves time for Reed and me to hang out.

Today we ate brunch at IHOP.
Reed had cupcake pancakes.

And then Reed requested going in a Chuck E. Cheese we saw.  He planned on just "dominating" all the games, but he quickly learned that wasn't as much fun as it used to be.  He asked me, "Did Chuck E. Cheese get worse or was it always this bad?"  Oh...it was always this bad.

The boys spent the afternoon in the pool and lazy river, and I spent the day bundled up in a hoody since it was only 65 degrees!

Action Seats that were full of Action

I was going to put all the rodeos that Jason and I went to in one post, but when you get to hold hands with Tim McGraw then I think that's worthy of its own post.

Jason and I sat in the "action seats" on Thursday night, and when the concert started we got to go down on "the dirt".

Thumbs up for our dirt seats.

I've only seen a few performers ever get off the stage at the rodeo, and thankfully Tim McGraw is one of them!

Tim and me holding hands.

He is very skinny, very tan, and sounds just like he does on the radio.

Any Excuse

While we were at the rodeo Kyle and I went to the petting zoo.

And you know I will always use any excuse to post my favorite picture that makes me laugh more than any other picture.

Reed's first petting zoo.

Kyle has never been scared of petting zoo's, but he's definitely grown up since that first one we took them to.

We had fun petting the animals.

Kyle with a goat

Kyle with 2 goats

And Kyle with a llama.
