MomGyver

While we were flying home last week Kyle needed to make a trip to the bathroom.
Obviously it was a tight squeeze with both of us in there, and he knocked one of the scabs off his arm.
And since I didn't have a band-aid handy at 30,000 feet above the ground, I, of course, thought I was going to have to make the child a tourniquet.
I've never seen so much blood.

I stuck a piece of airplane bathroom paper towel to his arm, but by the time we got back to our seats, he had bled through that.

It was then that I had to MacGyver a band-aid.
My supplies? A coloring book with a sticker page.

I ripped out a piece of the coloring book and affixed it to Kyle's arm using the stickers.
He thought it was the coolest thing ever!

I'm pretty sure this qualifies me to answer "Here!" when they ask if there's a doctor on the flight.

Who is That?

I took Kyle and Reed to visit their new preschool this morning.
(They'll be going T/TH mornings.)

The kids got to play while the parents (notice I didn't say 'moms'... this is Durango, there's always more dads than moms) had a little meeting with the teacher.

One of their activity stations is a work bench...with real tools. (Yikes!)
And guess who was in love with it?

Not who you'd think.

That's a real nail, real hammer, and not a drop of pink anywhere in sight!
Okay-Okay, so he does have his hat tipped to the side quite stylishly.

Fashion Fabulous Friday

Last week he was covered in dirt, and this week....
Well......
He looks more like the Kyle we know and love.

(Not that he's given up 'dirt biking', that's still a fan favorite around here.)

And it's not that Kyle is so stylish this week, as much as it is his new toy.
He specifically asked if he could have the "Barbie Happy Meal".
And really, he's 3, I'm totally fine with it.
Now I know this isn't a Barbie, but I don't have any girls, so I have no idea what kind of doll this is.
Kyle calls her "Dora Barbie".  (I'm guessing because of her black hair.)

But no matter who she is, she is quite fashion fabulous in those pink pants and blue scarf.

Fashion Fabulous Friday

'Dirt' is the new black edition.

If you'd asked me which of my kids would be begging me to take them to the "dirt bike race track" everyday I certainly wouldn't have picked this one.

I can't wait to see how excited he's going to be when he finds out biking has "costumes".

I also can't wait to see his daddy's face when he picks out a pink one!

But, The Fashionista has spoken.

Dirt is totally "in".

Little Iron Horses Year 2

Sooo, Here's the sitch on my computer.
Long story short, they can't fix it.
I can sort-of blog, but my email doesn't work.
I figure I better get this post out into blogland before my computer decides it doesn't feel like doing that either.

I pretty much complain about the bicyclers on the roads of Durango nonstop.
If they wouldn't break the law, (i.e. riding side by side so I have to risk my life pulling into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting them) I wouldn't roll my eyes and complain so much.
Kyle is so used to them he rolls down the window and screams 'Excuuuuuse Meeeeee!' whenever we see some. (Which is about every 2 seconds.)

But if the bicycle community wants to let my babies race down Main Street and give them medals, well, I can probably stop complaining about them for a day or so.

This was Kyle and Reed's second year to compete in the Sprite Kid's Iron Horse Race and they knew exactly what to expect.
Just look at those pre-race game faces!

Reed left nothing to chance.
He was sure to inspect his "vintage" tires before the race.

And yes, Reed's "vintage" tricycle (as the announcer called it) was mine when I was his age.

Kyle chose JR's old (but certainly not vintage) Go, Diego, Go trike for his race day.

And just in case you were wondering, MY tricycle beat Go, Diego, Go!

The medals were exciting...

but not as awesome as winning a free Sprite.

Post race photo-op with friends.

Hang With Us At Your Own Risk

Kyle, Reed, and Koen (Cassidy's son) went to gymnastics camp yesterday.
When I picked them up, they all came out of the gym saying how hot they were.
(They were pretty sweaty.)

I told the boys to put on their shoes, and I turned to talk to another mom.
As I looked back to start the herding to the car process, here's what I saw:

So I'm giving you fair warning.
Hang with us at your own risk.
Looks like our "lifestyle choices" rub off easily on others.

Final Kicks

Kyle and Reed had their last soccer game yesterday.
Kyle played about 1 minute (he LOVES practice, but could take or leave playing in the actual game).
Reed played the entire time.
This is my favorite picture of the day.

Check out Reed.
Teeniest-tiniest one out there, but right in the middle, and pushing those big kids back.

I also love that Kid To The Far Left obviously has more important matters to be worrying about than getting to the ball.

The Shirtless Wonder Strikes Again

We went to eat at McDonald's last night to celebrate Cassidy's son, Knox's, 2nd birthday.

Here's a picture of the "party guests".
I've given them disguises to see if you can pick out an Ingersoll without looking at their faces.
Yep.
The shirless one belongs to me.
(I also claim two of the others.)

I promise he arrived wearing a shirt.
But after awhile he came out of the playground, handed me his shirt, and said, "Here. I'm hot."

Jason was out late on a fishing trip for work, so I sent him this picture with the following text:
Your child decided 2 B shirtless at McDonald's.

Jason's reply:
Is that appropriate?
I have caught 4 fish!

All about priorities in the Ingy house.
We might have a shirtless child running around McDonald's, but hey, it's all good.
Jason caught four fish!

Meet John(s)

When we were on our cruise, Reed picked out a stuffed animal shark for his souvenir.
While riding the elevator a lady said, "What's your shark's name?"
Without skipping a beat Reed said, "John."
And since that moment, every stuffed animal in our house is named 'John.'

Kyle usually refers to his stuffed animals as his "babies".
But, of course, the babies are now named John.

So I wasn't really surprised when Kyle asked if he could bring Cow John to his soccer game.
He really wanted to play while holding John, but we were able to convince him that John could sit on the sidelines with me and watch.

But don't feel sorry for John.
He had his moment.
They had team pictures after their game Saturday.
Just look who snuck in the picture.

Will The Story Ever End?

Toy Story 3 has hijacked my Netflix account.
It has been in nonstop play mode for about 2 weeks, and though I haven't actually "seen" it, (it's on repeat in the car) I could easily recite the movie for you.

The other day, Kyle was talking about Toy Story and I said, "Who's your favorite character? Buzz?"
Kyle: No! Not Buzz Light-lear
Me: Oh, then it's Woody! I love Woody.
Kyle: No! Not Woody.

I should have guessed...

Of course Kyle's favorite would be Jessie the singing cowgirl!

And yes, I've showed this next picture of JR before.
And it has nothing to do with Kyle's new found love of Jessie,
but it's one of my favorites.
So here it is again...

It's Pretty Easy Being Three

I can no longer play the sympathy card by saying, "I have twin-two-year-old boys".
Because I now have twin-three-year-old boys!

When I asked Kyle and Reed what they wanted to do for their birthday they told me,
"Blow out candles with Price."
"Eat donuts with Price."

Well, that was easy.
 Done. And Done.

But before we headed over to Price's house yesterday, I drove through "Old McDonald's" and let them have a little pre-breakfast breakfast.

Price was more than happy to "blow out candles and eat donuts", although they made a last minute decision to switch out donuts for blue cupcakes.

After a non existent nap, (they laid in their beds and screamed, "Is it still my birthday?!" for an hour) it was time to pick up JR and take him to piano lessons.
And since piano lessons just happen to fall during happy hour, they thought they could use a little birthday pick-me-up.

Kyle and Reed finished up their day with cake and presents at home.
It certainly wasn't a party the likes of JR would find acceptable, but my little guys were happy as could be.

It Was Like a Norman Rockwell Painting

Is there anything more beautiful, calm, and serene than baking Christmas cookies with your kids?

I know mine are so well behaved, patient, and not messy.
Ahhh.
What a sweet time together.

Let's take a look at the "memories" we made yesterday.

Now don't worry about Kyle's seemingly "ang-a-ree" mood.
It was all my fault.
I was the mean mom that wouldn't let him sit on the footstool JR was using, and made him sit on a barstool instead so he could actually see what was going on.

Just look how thrilled he is about baking with mom!

He was so sad when he told us he'd be leaving the baking area to go watch TV.

Worried you hadn't seen The Cake Boss?
He took a long nap yesterday, so you can imagine how excited he was when he marched in to find we had started without him.

You'll notice I have tons of pictures since the mishaps were few and far between.
Just check out the dough stuck to JR's rolling pin.
The tell-tale sign of an expert baker.

Later,  Kyle walked in like this and announced, "I'm going to lunch."
I was having so much fun I had no desire to scream out, "Take me with you!"

Good times. Good times.
