The Hat Chronicles of Reed

First thing in the morning:

Dressed and ready for the day:

Naked and ready for the day:

Out on the town:
And just so we're clear, Reed may or may not be sitting at the bar in Joel's after the Snowdown parade.
Now, if he was sitting at the bar (which we haven't established if that really happened) it would be because I'm friends with the owner, Kylie, who texted me to bring the boys by for some hot chocolate.
And if we did take up the hot chocolate offer, It may or may not have been totally worth it just to get to embellish the best line ever from Sweet Home Alabama:
 "Look at you. You've got 3 babies...In a bar."

Maybe it was all the hot chocolate, but just like that,
 the black hat was replaced:

What They're Wearing Wednesday

Which is a lot like Fashion Fabulous Friday, except I've got so many FFFs lined up I had to add this post this week.

I made a Target run while we were in Farmington on Monday and everybody walked away with a new pair of flip-flops for our spring break cruise.
Some of us, like JR, have completely forgotten they even got new flip-flops.
Others of us are obsessed with their new flops.
Obsessed to the point that they are sleeping in/with them, and wearing them all the time.

I let our little flop fashionistas sleep in them for their nap yesterday. (I've got so many other things to worry about with these two that sleeping in flip-flops is not a battle I'm going to fight.)
So, of course, there was wailing and gnashing of teeth last night when Jason informed them they could not sleep in flip-flops.
Besides the end-of-times hysteria, they also threw in the ever popular, "But Mommy said we could!"
(The flops sat right beside their beds last night.)

And since the flops were ready and waiting for them this morning, that meant I had a shoe slap to the face as a "good morning" as they climbed in bed with me.
That'll get you out of bed!

Morning flops at the "breakfast table"

Flops while dressed for the day.
(We're having naked issues with somebody.)

Fashion Fabulous Friday

So, of course, no sooner had I published last week's post about how JR could care less what he wears, he came to me and told me he wanted to dress up for the Snowdown parade (which was two hours away).
The Snowdown theme this year was a monster theme, and I quickly got nervous since I knew I didn't have anything "scary" in the prop closet.

But then I started thinking I might be able to whip up a vampire costume.

Luckily, I had the 75% off after Halloween at WalMart magicians costume handy.  (I wouldn't have even known a $3 magicians costume existed if it wasn't for my blog friend, Leia, mentioning that she bought it for her son even though it went against her "not raising dorks policy".)

And since vampires of today are more beautiful than scary anyway, it was actually pretty easy:
JR put on the cape from the $3 dorky magicians costume.
I covered his face in sparkly eyeshadow (so he'd "sparkle" in the sunlight).
Put some dark eyeshadow under his eyes so it would look like he "needed to eat".
Tousled his hair with some gel.
And voila'...
When we finished I said, "Wow JR, you look like a vampire. Actually, you look like Edward.  Do you know who Edward is?"
JR: Of course, he's from Eeeee-clipse!
(How he knows that I have no idea. I'm guessing school/TV commercials)
Me: Oh. Well, I'm glad you don't want to be Jacob.  I have no idea how to draw 6-pack abs on you.

But seriously, check out how Edwardy JR looks.
I'm thinking I might need to take up a career in movie make-up!

Fashion Fabulous Friday

In the past few weeks Kyle and Reed have turned into children who
A. Only wear underwear (and then accessorize)
or
B. Change clothes at least 6 times a day

I'm not exactly sure what to think of this new little situation as I still pick out JR's clothes.  As long as they aren't "too fancy", JR doesn't even notice/care what he's wearing.

And since my camera seems to be filling up with pictures of Kyle and Reed starring in their own daily performances of Project Runway/What Not to Wear/Ru Paul's Drag Race, I figured I'd just start a weekly Fashion Fabulous Friday (so I'm not bombarding you with it every other day).

Does this Santa suit look a little small?  That's because it's a size 3-6 months.
 3-6 months!

He got the shirt on all by himself, but I thought we were going to have to cut him out of it to get it off.

Then they decided to play Mommy Santa Claus and Daddy Santa Claus.
Reed assigned the parts.
And although Kyle was the one wearing actual pants, he was still Mommy Santa Claus.
At least Mommy Santa Claus knows how to give good gifts.

Rhinestone Cowboy

Lately it feels like I've been writing a fashion blog.
Who would've thought that was even possible since I live with 3 boys and a husband that wore jean shorts on our first real date.
(Yes, he wore jean shorts.  But don't worry, those have long been removed from his wardrobe.)

In the past few days Reed has refused to wear clothes.
He has, however, been studying at the Kyle school of accessorization.
Just check out this little get-up.

My Girl Shirt

The other day Reed told Jason, "I want to wear my girl shirt."
Jason: You don't have any girl shirts!
Reed: Yes! I want to wear my girl shirt.
Jason: You don't have any girl shirts.
Reed: Yes I do, right there.

And here's the "girl shirt" he's referring to:
You can imagine Jason's relief when I said, "Oh, when he asked me what his shirt said I told him, 'Girls Like Me.' "
(I figured he'd understand that, and it'd save me an hour of explaining.)

Kyle took it even one step further.
He says it's his "Mommy loves me shirt."
We've been working on learning that Mommy is a girl.
The only girl in the house.

Fashion Never Sleeps

I went to a work dinner with Jason tonight, and when we got home I went to check on the kids.

Here's how I found Kyle...
I expected the two-sizes-too-small bear pajamas (they're an extension of his "bear hunting" and he wants to wear them all the time), but the monkeys were a surprise!

So...the "gotta have it" look of the week deemed by the Resident Fashionista...
 Monkey Slippers.
