The Yearbook

When I was in school getting the yearbook was just about the most exciting thing ever.  I don't think it's that big of a deal now that the internet exists, but I still get excited when the kids bring theirs home.

Kyle and Reed are all over their 5th grade yearbook. It's hard to turn the page and not see them.  But I just have to hit the highlights.

Look how cute their 5th grade picture is.  Reed is easy to find since he made himself front and center, but I circled Kyle in his red shirt.

And look how good I did on their 5th grade graduation shout out.

I never saw Kyle or Reed's class picture, and I laughed when I saw that Kyle was wearing a Hawaiian shirt in his.

But I laughed even more when I saw what they did in Reed's class.  His teacher was absent so another teacher held up a big head of her!

Granny Sherry and Kyle had the best weekend in Dallas at SMU this weekend!

 I was working out Friday morning and after class checked my phone....and started screaming.  

I had texts waiting for me that Kyle had finished 3rd on 3 meter...which means he qualified to move on to zones this summer.

I was so excited for him.

On Saturday he placed 1st on platform (5 meters) 

and Sunday he placed 3rd on 1 meter.  

We couldn't be more happy for him.

Party for a Party

Jason and I attended the Child Advocates annual fund raiser on Saturday night.  It was a "birthday party" theme, so this is what we came up with to wear.

We had lots of fun and bid on lots of things, but of course, the only thing we "won" was a deer hunt.

She Loves Me

JR was in his school's production of She Loves Me over the weekend.

It was such a cute show (it's basically the plot of You've Got Mail and The Shop Around the Corner) and we really enjoyed it.

The kids were amazing, and we loved watching JR.

Jason and I went to see him Friday night, and Maw Maw and Paw Paw went to see him Saturday night.  

Maw Maw reported that Saturday night's audience was "all the grandparents" so they fit right in! 

The Dog is on More Meds than Me

This little girl hasn't felt good lately.

And she is definitely an Ingersoll, because she was quite dramatic in letting us know.

When we would rub her right ear she wouldn't just let out a yelp, she would scream long and loud.

A trip to the vet revealed that Chloe has bad allergies that make her itch. She's rubbing her head on the ground to scratch, which got bacteria in her ears and caused ear infections.

She's now on allergy meds and ear drops.

It's always something. 

Hello Tennis

Last night was our last baseball game of the season as they lost in their first round of playoffs, 3-4

I thought we were going to win there for a second, but it just wasn't in the cards.  I told Reed he couldn't have done anymore.  He had a double play, was the closing pitcher, and scored one of those 3 runs.  

JR was at dress rehearsal last night, so I was the announcer.  I might have gotten overly excited in the press box and attacked the dad doing the scoreboard a few times.  Thank goodness he's our neighbor or I might have had a #metoo case against me.  

 I took this picture before we left for the game, and it's the only one I got last night.

Reed had a great season, and we were really proud of how he played. 

It was fun being his mama in the stands. 

And since baseball is over, now he goes back to tennis. 

Opening Number

Here in Houston they have an awards show that are like the Tony Awards, but for high school kids. 

First your school has to be nominated to even have judges come watch your show, then from those shows, kids and schools get nominated.  It's a really big deal to be nominated, but if you win, it's pretty much like winning an Oscar (for theater kids in Houston, anyway).

One of the boys from My Fair Lady was nominated for best supporting actor and every school that is nominated gets to send 2 kids to be in the opening act.  JR's theater teacher picked JR (and the girl who played the Eliza Doolittle) to represent Memorial in the opening act.  We had lots of moms and kids go and support our nominee and our opening number performers.

The show is at the Hobby Center and we moms thought it started at 7:00, we all got there at 6:00, only to find out it started at 7:30...so we found ways to entertain ourselves. 

Our seats were way far up in the balcony, so my pictures are terrible, but I could easily find JR in real life. 

Each opening act performer wore their costume from their school's show, so it was really cool.

After the opening number he changed and came and sat in the audience, I saw him for a second at intermission.

I was so proud of JR  that he was chosen to participate.  Memorial didn't walk away with any awards, but it really is just an honor to be nominated.
