Fashion Fabulous Friday on Saturday

With two Christmas parties at our house in two consecutive weeks (the work party and the neighborhood party) Hunter had a bit of grooming done last Friday.

I literally gasped when I saw him.

In all his 11 years he's never looked so beautiful.  (And I'm sure I'm supposed to say he looked handsome since he's a boy, but no, he looked beautiful.)

I'm sure he could have won the Westminster Dog Show right then and there...except for the, ya know, not having any teeth part.

Pictures don't do him justice, but he looks just like a baby seal!

He's the most fashion fabulous ever. Ever!

Help a Christmas Lovin' Sista Out!

Alrighty, so if you're on Pinterest (Mom and Sherry, You aren't. So don't worry about it.) please go and like (and repin so others might like) my Texas Christmas tree.

Country Living magazine (which I've had a subscription for my whole adult life) is having a contest and the Christmas tree with the most "likes" wins.

I think the prize is a Kindle Fire, but in my dream world I just want enough likes for one of the Powers That Be to notice my tree and want to come see my whole house!

I think "liking" is open until December 19th.

Thank you!

Here's the link:

And here's the picture I submitted for those of you not on Pinterest.

Beary Smart

We got my Durango friend, Kylie's, Christmas card this week.
Which had a little extra surprise in it:
A copy of the Bear Smart newsletter.

(There are so many bears in Durango you actually need an organization telling you not to feed them or try to make them into pets...cause when you do, it never ends well.)

I was trying to figure out why she sent me the newsletter (deciding it must have been for Jason to see a big bear that a hunter had taken) when I saw my eldest child smiling back at me.

I labeled him so the grandparents can easily find him.

Apparently, JR became a "Bear Smart Kid" last year. Good to know.
Though I doubt that knowledge will get much use in suburban Denver.

The Hunt is On

If it wasn't painfully obvious I live in a house of all boys, our Elf on a Shelf will certainly clear up any confusion.

Reindeer hunting in a gingerbread house deer blind.

Yes, I came up with this one on my own.
(Not that it was much of a stretch since I have a few hunting themed inspirations sitting around the house.)
As you can imagine, the boys LOVED it.

And if you happen to have a life size mountain lion sitting around the house, here's another elf on the shelf idea you can have.

Real Elves

Before the big party on Saturday, I spent part of the afternoon with the boys as they played elves at one of the local nursing homes.

JR's 4-H group sang, and gave out cards and candy to the residents.

I thought this was a wonderful service! I personally think our elderly citizens, especially nursing home residents, are such a neglected demographic.

I brought Kyle and Reed along since they are such a big hit when they go sing at the nursing home with my parents.

JR sang the loudest.

Kyle was a great candy giver.

And Reed was the master of the hugs.
(The most important job of all!)

The 4-H group, plus Kyle and Reed.  JR's the only boy in the group.
All these girls have projects like cake decorating and knitting.
JR's project? .22 rifle shooting sports.

But hey, they love having a boy, and I'm not sure he's even noticed he's the only one!

Christmas Party #2 (Without Skiing)

Jason's entire Denver office was over last night for the company Christmas party.

Everyone seemed to have a good time, and I tried really hard to win Christmas gifts for the kids during the White Elephant.

I stole (and had stolen) a Bronco's football, a table top ping-pong set, and a camouflage Snuggie.

Unfortunately for the kids (but fortunately for me) I wound up with a Home Depot Nutcracker.
(As in a nutcracker dressed up like he works at Home Depot.  It's hilariously awe-some.)

And here's a picture of Jason and me before the festivities got in to full swing.
Terrible quality, but you get the idea.

Nothing Fabulous

There is no fashion fabulous Friday today because today is the day Ayi leaves and goes back to Beijing.

(Commence wailing and gnashing of teeth...and I might even shave my head and wear sack cloth.  It's sadness of Biblical proportions.)

I'm not sure who is the most upset, but I'm pretty sure I'm at the very top of the list.

It's a deep, dark, depressing kind of day.
Almost as bad as election night.

Sigh.
