Fashion Fabulous Friday

Is road rash in this season?
I certainly hope so, cause I'm gonna be rockin' it for awhile.

I always thought of myself as a super coordinated person, but after my fall running earlier this year, my wipe out on the ski lift, and now...another fall running, I'm starting to doubt myself.

After my big fall, (on the busiest street in town) I tried to figure out what to do with myself.
I thought about going over to the kids' school, but it's so hard to get inside I figured that would be more trouble than it was worth.

So I headed for the nursing home.  Plus, I figured they'd have plenty of band-aids on hand!

All the retirees were having lunch, so I was quite the spectacle (and I'm sure the gossip of the afternoon) when I panickly came in with blood running down my leg and from my hands.

A very confused worker met me at the door, but was more than helpful (even offered up band-aids!) when I told her I had fallen, and could I just use their bathroom to "wash the hurt off my hands"?  Yep, that's what I said.

Another banged up knee.  Just in time for shorts season!

While in the bathroom, I figured it was a perfect place for a selfie:

1. To prove that I was really in a nursing home bathroom
and
2. To prove to my mom that I'm totally fine, don't need medical assistance, or spend any time in the hospital/doctor's office/emergency room.

Taking Off the Pre

So my little Pre K-ers had a big date with the K-ers this week.
It was kindergarten orientation, and the littles were a bit more nervous about it than I had expected.

Kyle brought his stuffed animal (which he passed off to me as soon as he walked in the room, so lucky me, I got to pack it around) and Reed was actually pretty quiet for once.

As soon as we walked in, the kinders treated them like rock stars.
A few of the kids were in their class last year, some are in the neighborhood, and some think they know Kyle and Reed cause their twins and that's "cool", so they had plenty of "come sit by me!" invitations.

They almost blend right in.

They each were assigned a special kinder tour guide to show them around.

Reed used his orientation time quiet productively.  He's already picked out the classroom and teacher he wants.

And Kyle? Well, Kyle was just happy I let him wear his new flip-flops.

Important Week

As a former teacher, and the daughter, niece, and cousin of teachers, teacher appreciation week is super important.  Believe me, there's way more un-thank yous than thank yous from parents.

I really love all the kids' teachers this year, so I'm more than happy to participate and make sure I have a little something special for them each day.

The school wanted the kids to write notes to their teachers, and being that Kyle and Reed are a little too young for that, they drew pictures of their teachers.
(Which totally crack me up.)

Now, before I show you these, let me promise you I gave them the exact same instructions.
I sat in between them and drew on my own paper step by step.
("Draw an eye. Now draw another eye." Etc.)

It's not my fault if Kyle rushed ahead/took his own artistic liberties resulting in some teachers looking more like zombies than humans. I promise, they don't in real life.

(And yes, I wrote the teachers' names on Kyle's papers.  There's only so much "art class" he can take.)

Mrs. Sue

Mrs. Jan  (Not me.)

Mrs. Sally

And, don't worry, if you haven't thanked a teacher yet, you've still got plenty of time.

Serious. Seriously.

If this isn't a serious face...

then I guess this is for sure.

Yep, it's all seriousness until it's time to do the Baywatch run....blowing blond locks and all.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Man, oh man, it's days like today that we miss the good ol' Tex-Mex of home.
But I made Mexican food for dinner (I know, me cooking is totally blog worthy in itself) to try and
celebrate.

Obviously these people are starved for Tex-Mex since they liked my enchiladas!

Fashion Fabulous Friday-With Feathers!

My dad's side of the family always said my grandmother "had some Comanche Indian in her".
I'd say these two look way more Cynthia Ann Parker than Comanche.

And if you don't know who Cynthia Ann Parker is, well, your Texas history is a little rusty.
Looks like you've got some learnin' to do!

Wanna See Some Skatin'?

Roller skating day is still the favorite day of the week in this house.

I asked them what their favorite sport (to play) was the other day, fully expecting them to say:
soccer, gymnastics, football, baseball (in that order).

Both of them said "roller skating".
Seriously? Is that even a sport?

Here they are in all their late 70's/mid 80's glory.
Old school roller skates decked out in glow sticks and all.
(With an awesome double wipe-out at the end.)

They both have on white shirts. Reed has on red pants and Kyle black pants.
