A Game and a Party

I feel like we haven't stopped to sit down since Friday.

We'll start with the big championship basketball game.

It was at our school district's colosseum, which made it really special for the boys.  They played at 8:15 Saturday morning which was good since all the boys had baseball games in the afternoon, but a very early start.

Reed's team played a good defensive game, but bless their hearts, not one basket went in for the entire first half!

They had 5 points of freethrows and that was it.  Everything our kids shot bounced off the rim and every wild toss the other team threw would go in.  The score was 17-5 at half.

They came back after the half like a different team, going in to the 4th quarter they had cut their lead by 7 and it was  21-14.

In the 4th quarter Reed and the other four boys tied up the game.
It was so exciting and fun to watch!

Our guys wound up loosing by 1 point. 30-29,  It came down to the wire, and I thought for a second that they might even win.

I think it was the easiest loss ever.  The comeback from being 14 points down made them feel like they won anyway.  Plus they got a runner up trophy, and trophys always help.

Reed had a big fan club to cheer him on.

Granny Sherry was beside herself that she had to miss the game, but she was in Dallas with Kyle for his diving meet (another post). She was sending me Kyle's diving scores while I was sending her basketball scores. Talk about both of us wanting to be in two places at once!

Reed's coaches also hired a "real" basketball coach to help them out.  Coach G was able to come to the game too (he's not allowed to coach them at the games since he's not a dad) and you can see Reed was so happy he was there.

We went from basketball to baseball (another post) and then had the basketball team party at our house.  People started showing up at 3:30 and the last guests left at 11:00, so I'd say it was successful.

Here's 7 of the 10 that we could round up for a picture.

There was street football, basketball, Youtube video making starring the hamsters, and of course, swimming in February for the die hard crazies.
