Oh Dear. No Deer.

Jason and JR came home from JR's first deer hunt (as the hunter) empty handed. 

He was disappointed, but is learning that that's part of hunting...you don't always come home with an animal.

 

 

They were in Kansas where a record high of 107 was set.  Not many animals moving around in that kind of heat.

 

 

This is what he looked like for 4 days.

Don't Point That Thing at Me

There's a lot of work that goes in to learning how to be an Ingersoll.

Luckily, I get to retain my Reynolds-ness when it comes to shooting things.

(I don't.)

Just look how hard they're working, how can this possibly be fun?

What can I say? The smiles say that it is.

(BTW, do you know how hard it is to take pictures at an archery range? 

That whole "not standing in front of a speeding arrow" thing is kinda a requirement.)

Davids and Goliath

Soccer season started yesterday.

Remember the giant from the spring?

My kids hadn't forgotten him at all. 

They were worried they'd loose as soon as they saw him.

I can't say I blame them, it's scary to go up against someone 3 times your weight in the under 6 league!

Reed kept running into him and I thought he'd bounce off like he was hitting a brick wall. 

But Reed took him down with him everytime!

 It was a win yesterday, with Kyle and Reed both scoring a goal.

 

 

Ha! I love it when they can beat giant "kindergarteners". 

Fashion Fabulous Friday

Same Shoes as Yesterday

Though they didn't inline skate to school today (yay!) they did have their first practice with their inline hockey team. 

 

 

(And if you think I've lost my mind by signing them up for yet another 'thing', oh, I totally have. 

 I couldn't manage without Granny Sherry here to play the role of the other chauffeur.)

 

 

 

But just look how adorably cool they are!

Reed is faster, but Kyle can skate backwards better.

And since I can't take a picture of 'fast', here they are going backwards.

 

This is How We Roll

Kyle and Reed begged me to let them inline skate to school today.

To be clear, I did not put this idea in their heads.

 

 

5 year olds inline skating a 1/2 mile to school does not fit in with my life motto (say it with me):

 "Make it easy on yourself."

 

 

But, I did let them go ahead and do it.

I certainly didn't say 'yes' because I'm a nice mom, it was because I knew after doing it once...

they'd never ask again.

They actually did fine, but they quickly learned that a 1/2 mile on a sidewalk with cracks and ups and downs is a lot easier on a bike or scooter.

 

And that skating is best done in a rink. 

(Though they looked pretty cool walking into Kinder holding their skates.)

BTW, I brought their skate bag with me to pick-up; they didn't even argue when I told them we were walking home.
