10 Days Later

On May 1st we got a good 4 inches of snow.
I was not excited.

Then, yesterday, on the morning of May 11, I walked out on my front porch to this.
Grrrreat.

The day went on, the snow melted.
And then I got a call from Jason last night.

One thing about Durango is it's really hard to get here.
Jason had been in Salt Lake City, but of course, had to change planes in Denver.

When he called me he was sitting on the runway in Denver.
It was snowing.

He posted this picture on Facebook
And he sat on the runway for 3 1/2 hours waiting for the plane to be de-iced.

And just in case you missed that...
sat on the runway for 3 1/2 hours

He made it home about 1:00 AM last night.
It took him 11 hours to get home from Salt Lake City.
He could have driven it in 7.

10 on 10 (Sort of)

So I remembered to take my 10 pictures on the 10th, but then I didn't actually take 10 pictures.
So today would be more appropriately titled 8 on 10.

Kyle is so much like me.  He likes to take it easy in the mornings.

Looks like we had a stowaway brought on board.

I think we go through a box of Band-Aids a week.

Reed could color for hours.
(Okay, at least fifteen minutes, but that's like hours for a 3 year-old boy.)

Happy Hour isn't nearly as happy since I gave up Cokes.

When Jason's out of town, it's just easier to be a short order cook.

It's also easier to put them all in the tub at once.

JR and I are reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
I've seen the movies so many times I had forgotten how good the book is.

The Shirtless Wonder Strikes Again

We went to eat at McDonald's last night to celebrate Cassidy's son, Knox's, 2nd birthday.

Here's a picture of the "party guests".
I've given them disguises to see if you can pick out an Ingersoll without looking at their faces.
Yep.
The shirless one belongs to me.
(I also claim two of the others.)

I promise he arrived wearing a shirt.
But after awhile he came out of the playground, handed me his shirt, and said, "Here. I'm hot."

Jason was out late on a fishing trip for work, so I sent him this picture with the following text:
Your child decided 2 B shirtless at McDonald's.

Jason's reply:
Is that appropriate?
I have caught 4 fish!

All about priorities in the Ingy house.
We might have a shirtless child running around McDonald's, but hey, it's all good.
Jason caught four fish!

Bears 3. Jason 0.

So for the 3rd time, Jason and JR came home empty handed from a bear hunt.
(Although it wasn't for lack of trying since Jason's neck is purple it's so sunburned from riding a horse all day.)

Kyle and Reed are now old enough to know when they're getting left behind, so I had to pull out my own "big guns" when it came to entertaining them.
We tried two new things this weekend, which both went surprisingly well.

JR told me he wanted to paint pottery for his birthday party this year,
(That child never ceases to surprise me with what he comes up with.)
so I went by to reserve the studio for his party.

Guess who thought they needed to paint pottery?

The lady who owns the studio was a typical, artsy Durangoan.
Had she known the rest of the family was on a bear hunt, I probably would have been asked to leave.
But instead, she thought she'd found a kindred spirit in me.

When she asked the boys what colors they wanted to paint with Kyle said, "Pink!"
(Of course he did.)
She immediately looked at me to see how I would react to my son asking for pink.
I said, "Okay. And Reed what color would you like?"
(I think he picked yellow.)
Her face lit up and she started praising my parenting skills about how wonderful I was to let my son express himself with pink.
Yeah. I just kept my mouth shut.
I had no intentions of telling her that I'm really just a lazy mom and pick my battles.
Pink paint isn't a battle I feel like fighting.
Besides, he picked out a 4-wheeler to paint. I figured that was manly enough for the day.

I also took them to their first movie.
I figured if we made it halfway through it'd have been worth it.
Poor things don't even weight enough to keep the seat all the way down.

Reed asked me not to take his picture.

There was lots of changing seats, getting in my lap, and of course...shirt taking off.
Yep.
Kyle informed me he was hot and needed to take his shirt off.
And again, my lazy amazing parenting took over and I figured, it's dark, he's 3, who cares?

We made it through the entire movie, and Kyle's shirt was back on before the end.
Total success.
Except for Jason and JR.

Yeah Mama! Yeah Me!

I was going to post a picture of my mama and me...
But
A. I can't find one of us together
and
B. My mom would rather I not.

So, instead, I'll show her celebrity look-alike who today will be playing the part of my mom.
The most fun German-Jew-Presbyterian mom that's ever been.

And some pictures of me as a mama to my appreciative bunch.
Reed's already told me, "I want somebody to say 'Happy Mother's Day' to me!"
(You have to combine both pictures to have a good one of everybody.)
The flower is one that JR passed out at church.

Fashion Fabulous Friday

Spring in Colorado....

Warm enough to go shirtless,
too cold to go without a jacket.

My Favorite Scout Night

The Crossover Ceremonys are always my favorite night at Cub Scouting.
The boys are so excited to earn their patches, and move up to the next scouting level.
(And I get a teeny-tiny break before I have to start planning activities again.)

Last night JR's den earned their Wolf patch, which means they are now Bears.
And, of course, he couldn't have been more excited.

Check out my colorful fingers.  You can see I was hard at work.

The orange represents their time as a Tiger, blue as a Wolf, and the red is for bravery for their journey as a Bear.

The new Bears
Their new colors are the light blue scarves and some changed into them immediately!

Bears!

And and I couldn't leave this little "bear" out.
Though you can't tell from his expression, he was more than happy to let me practice on him.
This is his Cub Scout face.
