It Really is a Conspiracy!

Alrighty.
So this has now escalated to ridiculous.  And when I say 'ridiculous' I, of course, mean it should definitely be one of Wendy Williams' Hot Topics. (How you doin'?)

Remember my post about how Hobby Lobby refuses to supply products for us I People?  How I really wanted one of their cute, decorative, initial pumpkins (which were 75% off this week, BTW) but they didn't order any 'I's'. (After my post both my mother-in-law and my friend, Adrienne, went to the Hobby Lobbys by their homes and came up 'I' empty handed.  Adrienne even asked the manager and was told "we didn't order any I's...and lots of people have asked for them."

Well, that was just the tip of the iceberg, my friends!

Because I have the inside scoop on what's going on over at Pottery Barn.
Oh yeah, I do.

My opera-singing-boy-BFF, JD, works at Pottery Barn as a side gig, and just check out what was on his blog yesterday.

To summarize:
Pottery Barn has been and will again be selling Glitter Letter Ornaments (a circular ornament with letters at the center) and there was a directive from the top with the following statement:
Glitter Letter Ornaments should be organized alphabetically in red shelf organizers. …
NOTE: Due to small projected sales, the following letters will not be produced: I, O, Q, U, X, Y, Z.

Um-hum.

So that puts you on my list too, PB.

Watch yourself.  I have a few phone calls to make.

It'll be a Bloody Good Time

Although JR and I do share lots of the same qualities, (flair for the dramatics, anyone?) unlike me, he could seriously care less about what goes on his body. Knowing it was picture day today he asked me what he had to wear.  The tone in his voice was as if I was going to make him the holy martyr of St. Tuxedo.

And of course, seconds after getting dressed, I noticed his nose started bleeding. (JR has terrible nose bleeds during the fall and winter here.  He often comes home from school looking like Sissy Spacek in Carrie.) I had tissues in his hands immediately, but he was still able to get blood smeared across his forehead.
I started imagining JR's 2nd grade picture with him wearing a shirt that looked like he'd used it to clean up a blood-bath.  (Which would actually be fairly accurate since he seems to think his shirts make better tissues than, well, tissues.)

I packed another shirt in his bag this morning and gave him precise instructions that if he gets blood on his shirt before pictures to change shirts.  His main concern? Could he change shirts after pictures even if he didn't get blood on it...because how dare I make him be so dressed up in a *sigh* collared shirt all day.

So what's my bet on what his school picture will look like?

He'll be wearing the extra t-shirt, and it'll be covered in blood.

Along with dried blood smeared all over his face.

Last year he was missing an arm, and this year he'll be bloody. You'd think the child went to Horror High!

Ice Cream Screaming Update

Remember these?

I really hadn't given them much thought (guess I was trying to block them from my tastebuds' memory).  But for some reason I thought about them last night, and decided to see if I could find out who won.  Now, of course, JR didn't win. But I am guessing they gave all the kids that entered a "prize" since, according to the newspaper, JR "won" Most Creative Design.

And why the quotation marks for the words 'prize' and 'won'?
Well, he didn't actually win anything, nor did anybody even tell us he'd won.  (Not that I expect and/or want a prize, I still feel like we owe the people that had to taste these things an apology.)

This morning I told JR of his winning and he was beyond excited.

JR: You mean I won the whole thing?! I won first place?!
Me: No, you won Most Creative Design.
JR: What do I get?! What do I win?!
Me: I don't know. We'll just have to see.

Guess you can figure out how I'll be spending my afternoon...
I really do need to stock up on glitter and construction paper for emergency "award" situations such as this.

Running with the Wolves

JR's school had their fun run last week and the kids were encouraged to dress as super heroes.  When I explained the costuming situation a month ago, JR informed me he didn't want to dress up, then the day before the run he changed his mind.
With a days notice I had no time to come up with something fun and manly-fabulous, so I had to settle for the WalMart Halloween section.  My choice of Wolverine was JR approved, and I have to say, it was super easy to find him in the crowd!

I did love that most of the girls chose some form of a fairy/princess/butterfly/ballet tu-tu combination as their superhero of choice.  Just check out the get-up the girl in front of JR has on.  Super Cat Girl?

JR got pretty hot in his Wolverine suit, (And BTW, I'm gonna show my age here by saying that I can't actually say or think the word "Wolverine" unless it's done like Lea Thompson in Red Dawn style.) so the costume came off and the muscles came out.

After JR's first lap around he asked me to run with him, which was quite interesting for me since here were my running shoes that day.

Who She Think She Is?

Or if you prefer we could use my alternate title: Who Dat Be?

I bought the most gorgeous nativity scene this weekend at the famous St. Francis Cathedral Basilica. I was so excited that I'd bought the last one, that I didn't notice a problem right away.

Cows and sheep? Check.
(I just love their big Restylane filled pale pink glossy lips!)

Wise men bearing gifts? Check.

Angel, Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus? Check.

So if you're keeping score, that means we're missing the shepards.

Now being raised a good Southern Baptist with a German Jew Presbyterian mom, I'm not well versed in Catholicism.  I do have lots of Catholic friends, but I've never heard them mention anything about the pretty girls visiting Baby Jesus at the manger.

Shepards? I'm thinking not.

Don't get me wrong, I love these girls, they're precious.  I'm just honestly trying to figure out who they are! Ideas?

Best Thing I Ever Ate

Hands down
No contest
Jason and I totally agree that we found the best thing we have ever eaten
in our lives
in the entire world.

Now yesterday I told you I took one picture with my camera, well I also took one picture with my cell phone. And I'm so glad I did, because I now have documentation of the food we wish we could eat everyday for the rest of our lives.

Guacamole made table side at Milagro 139 in Santa Fe.

It was so good that Jason and I were considering taking the bowl and licking it clean.
So good, that had we not been with other people, we would have gone back and eaten that guacamole for every meal.
So good, that when we do go back, we'll order one for each of us...because we aren't interested in sharing.
I'm thinking about it now.
Which makes nothing in my refrigerator seem the slightest bit appetizing.
